Hayden said, sincerely, expecting that Lucius wouldn’t even hear this.
“It’s not boring to spend half a day with a stranger. It gets boring as you get to know them.”
As expected, he only smirked.
“Ah, will it be boring if we’re together again?”
“I am flat and shallow. Too simple for Your Majesty to enjoy.”
It was true. The colorful days were over for Lucius, and she continued to live a gray day with only ashes remaining.
Since she had lost her parents and then focused only on the sword and magic, she didn’t have much left. Subjects for conversation, a sense of enjoying art, a cheerful mood were far from her.
So she didn’t notice how rigid the Emperor’s face had become, or she didn’t even have the time to notice it.
“Constructor Gennes, I will judge what kind of person you are.”
“I’m just telling you in advance.”
“I see that you have a harsh selfassessment.”
The Emperor, who had finally positioned the woman who was always trying to walk three steps behind beside him, spoke firmly.
Right now, he was not in a position that Lucius would listen to, but at least Rustica Gennes was not as insignificant and shabby as she thought. He could say it several times. Because it was true.
“It’s not harsh, it’s objective.”
“Not giving in a bit. I like that very much, though.”
Unlike the Calleta Imperial Palace, which is rigidly stretched out with harsh straight lines, the Perseita Imperial Palace is filled with graceful curves and delicate whites that contain a long history and spread elegantly.
And Hayden, crossing there, had it completely under his control.
Why would there be no one seen or heard in such a vast space? Lucius, who had frequented the Calleta Imperial Palace to the point of tiring of it, immediately realized that he had deliberately kept people out of the way.
His destination was a very large training ground.
‘What’s that place at the far end? A stable?’
Lu opened her eyes wide as she looked at the empty training ground.
“General Gennes has a poor memory.”
“Huh?”
Why does that guy always pick a fight?
“If the General doesn’t recognize it, there’s someone who will feel disappointed, but he won’t attack you, so don’t worry.”
“Who would that be, Your Majesty?”
Lu, who had slowly become accustomed to Hayden’s unpredictable behavior, asked in resignation.
“I’d like you to see and recognize it yourself.”
He looked at her and then looked ahead. The door of the distant breeding facility opened, and something small began to quiver and then grow larger. No, it wasn’t growing larger, but something already large was coming closer.
“What?”
With a strange sound, it approached, cocking its head and then making an even louder noise as it ran forward, and finally kicked off the ground and flew. The shadow of its spread wings was enough to cover the sun.
It had skin that glittered like gold dust sprinkled on a black night, and it flew swiftly, attacking as if it were coming at her.
“Ah.”
Lu had seen such a terrifying flying creature in front of the barrier before. She felt as though death was imminent in an instant.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
