Melfias wondered what it would have been like if Rustica Genesis were an entirely ordinary person unrelated to Carlos Arsene Ingram.

“No way.”

It’s a useless assumption. Even if that were the case, Hayden wouldn’t have let Carlos go.

Now, even if Melphias thinks about it, it’s absurd, but he simply gave priority to Roo over Carlos due to love.

“Shouldn’t Empress handle it herself now?”

Ophelia asked, thinking about how much power Carlos could exert under the curse tied to Roo.

The noise Roo made while colliding with Carlos in the distance reached here with shockwaves.

“That’s up to our young philosopher to decide.”

Melphias said the obvious and then corrected himself. Once again, there was a banging sound.

“No, she doesn’t seem young anymore.”

The southern philosopher in the distance laughed terrifyingly and ruthlessly attacked the fallen former philosopher. From Roo’s perspective, it was much more welcome to know that Carlos had the strength to counter.

She could attack as she pleased without hesitation, as she wanted.
If not, considering the revenge candidates lined up behind her, it’s either carefully strike, or sadly, the situation may come to an end.

The eyes scattered in the empty space reflected the warm sunlight of the desolate wasteland, shattering into pieces.

Keying, keyiing, the irritating sound echoed, shaking the snow piled up on the Karke Nan Mountains little by little.

Hayden glanced up sneakily. Another avalanche could happen at this rate. The new philosopher and the former philosopher were fighting to the death, combining their powers.

“……Kyu-woong?”

Icarus, who had been shouting a terrifying scream to the point that the Imperial Knights were trembling, approached Hayden and asked anxiously with a very cute voice.

Roughly translated, it means, “Is it okay to leave Roo like that?”

“It’s not easy being a good fiancé.”

If Carlos were to attack Roo while bleeding, Hayden’s body would twitch, and his hands would involuntarily reach out.

Whenever he fought inside the barrier, Hayden’s only reaction was to attacks against him. The only times he responded to others being attacked was after making a judgment. Living in entirely different timelines made it possible.

But for Roo, her body reacted first, regardless of her thoughts. While diligently monitoring her cursed state from behind, Hayden’s body urged him to interfere immediately.

Hayden gently stroked Icarus with his hand, full of strength, again, out of habit.

Rumbling, and again, the Karke Nan Mountains echoed. The powerful shock that would make ordinary people get involved and die shook the mountain several times.

He looked at Roo while suppressing his impulse. Even though her face was bruised and her bones were broken, she did not hesitate to collide with the enemy.

The desire to protect her was overwhelming because he loved her so much. Roo fought now just like she did back then, protecting the young soldiers.

“Hei…!”

There’s no need to call out the name. A brief look is enough. He’ll respond immediately when he strains his throat to produce a voice that doesn’t come out properly.

Failing to win the dazzling magical collision, snow began to pour again from the Karke Nan Mountains.

The north was Hayden’s territory, so he could handle any amount of avalanches. However, before the snow reached Roo, he left the north with Roo and Carlos.

“Ah, avalanche! Be careful!”

The tightly attached Karke Nan Mountains disappeared. The cold air in the north and the clear blue sky disappeared.

One stage in front of the Katart Wall folded. And in that place, a new stage unfolded.

“Where is that?”

“Is that…!”

Milene Genesis, turning her head, swallowed her groan. The remaining snow melted at a rapid pace. Hot air rushed in, and there was nothing in the wheat field that should have swayed.

A vast and fertile land, a horizon visible in the distance, and a southern city that should have been more prosperous but remained isolated due to a closed policy.

“Is it Harinban?”

At Milene’s question, Edan nodded his head blankly.

“It seems so.”

It was the place where Roo was born and the hometown of the couple.

“With what audacity…?”

Did they dare to come to the southern part of the Caletta Empire, even to Carlos’s territory? Carlos tried to bring the familiar power of the south right away. All the territories on this side are under his jurisdiction.

He had tamed him to obey him for 430 years. He gathered all the remaining power.

Honestly, he should have fought Hayden now.

He should have opposed the emperor as an emperor, but he was fighting Rustica Genesis. Here, his pride had already been eroded, and there was nothing left to cut.

Now, it was more urgent to endure than to bring in other powers.

“The southern philosopher is.”

Roo barely produced a proper voice. Her whole body was filled with light of the same color as her eye color.
“We’ll finish it in the south.”

The declaration with a sword cutting through magic sounded like a threat to some and like the correct answer that sent shivers down the spine to others.

Roo faced Carlos with the sword, her most beloved and familiar weapon.

She didn’t know how much she had imagined this moment. She had contemplated how to attack in her mind, where to strike, and thought about it again. And Roo realized it all accurately.

With a sharp sound passing by, Carlos felt chills.

At the moment he felt that something was wrong, he completely slumped. Roo, holding the sword tightly, looked down at Carlos, who was trying to somehow treat the leg she had just cut. She looked down at him.

The majesty of Emperor Caletta had completely collapsed, leaving nothing.

“Should I do more?”

Roo’s pondering power gripped Carlos tightly. The southern philosopher had already recognized her twice and submitted to her. The right leg she had just cut wouldn’t be usable anymore.

The reason Roo was contemplating was one. In her mind, all the terrible things she could do to a person with a sword were being calmly listed in order.

“Ah! Aaah!”

Then the thought stopped abruptly. Carlos, realizing that even the treatment wasn’t working properly, started screaming. Roo, just like Carlos did to her, absorbed all of his power.

So even hemostasis was impossible. With blood oozing and groaning in pain, he seemed to have no sanity left. Roo, holding the sword tightly, felt the strength draining from her hand.

“Pathetic.”

Truly pathetic. It felt like a bug squirming and buzzing. The one who had stood tallest, trampling over her, couldn’t even do what a child could.

“What do you know! It was all mine! Mine, mine…! It’s mine!”

Carlos seemed to have lost his mind completely, repeating only the words ‘It’s mine.’

His wriggling body tried to pull the power connected to Roo in any way, but Roo easily blocked it, almost effortlessly.

The curse that had bound her for a long time didn’t need to be lifted. It had been completely absorbed by Roo.

She felt a bit tired, very disappointed, and only now, as pain began to be felt, she turned away with an unpleasant feeling. Until Roo signaled, Hayden, who had been standing quietly and obediently, looked into her eyes.

“It’s all mine…!”

The voice buzzing in her ears, and Hayden’s laughter under the southern sky, made Roo reflexively turn her head again.

Crunch!

With a loud noise, Carlos’s jaw completely turned around, and he fell backward, collapsing.

Roo clenched her fist and exhaled. Her shoulders trembled. As she, Hayden, and many others lost the time they had lost their parents flashed before her eyes, tears welled up.

Roo closed her eyes once, then turned away from Carlos and walked towards Hayden. She wasn’t afraid to show her back to the avenger waiting behind her. She just silently walked, dragging her heavy leg, towards Hayden, who opened his arms with a smile.

“Is it enough?”

Roo nodded, burying herself deeply in his arms.

Her part was done.

Knowing that behind her was a more frightening and thorough revenge expert waiting, Roo relaxed her mind even more comfortably.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
