The two fought fiercely without saying a word, exchanging attacks. Carlos, who had been measuring each other for a while, smiled as if finding it amusing.
“430 years are quite long. Even if you don’t do productive work, you can engage in various hobbies, right?”
In short, Carlos implied that Ophelia’s attacks were nothing more than a trivial hobby and a leftover skill.
Ophelia did not respond. Provoking psychological warfare and recalling unpleasant memories were Carlos’s tactics.
“It’s interesting. Quite interesting.”
Moreover, his tone and expressions clearly showed contempt and disdain for Ophelia.
Ophelia raised the power of the belt that was first taken away from her by Carlos.
Cold anger filled her heart. If she could tear apart the author in front of her, what else couldn’t she do?
“Seems like I was quite a good teacher, Ophelia.”
The fight between the two, who confronted each other without any gaps, was more intense than when Melphies and Carlos collided.
There was no place for the one trying to devour somehow and the one trying not to be robbed of revenge to retreat.
“Those who live off my exquisite taste are needlessly bulky.”
Once cursed, one becomes helpless. It becomes terribly powerless, and despite having one’s own strength, it cannot be used.
But, you see, instead, you find out what the curse is all about. According to Ophelia, the moment she understood what it was, everything changed.
She looked at the thin curses reaching out to her, more robust than iron chains made of steel. Relentlessly, they lurked around her.
If Ophelia avoided or brushed them off, they clung to the Imperialle or divine beings nearby and drained their strength.
Afterward, with that strength, they rushed at Ophelia again. In the end, she was their ultimate goal. Not the petty ones, but the powerful strength of the Western Sage was the one they wanted to devour.
Or, that power was desperately needed.
“Melfius wanted to teach you again, but I don’t think that way.”
Bang, and the wands spewed fire all at once. Even Carlos was slightly surprised by the firepower.
But Ophelia no longer made any noise. She stood quietly, leaving Carlos to target her completely.
Never again, she hoped she would never be entangled in curses. Instead of enduring, it was better to die.
“You talk, but I can’t understand.”
It was the biggest insult in Ophelia’s life. Curses shot towards her like arrows.
In fact, Carlos was barely listening to her words.
Once he absorbed the power of the Western Sage, moved on to the East, extracted Melphies’s power, and then took the power of Perseta, the mad emperor, there would be no one to surpass him.
Carlos, who was dreaming of a vivid dream, paused as the curses were all deflected.
“Is that so?”
Filled with 430 years of longing, an enormous shield, impenetrable by anyone, surrounded Ophelia.
The invisible shield was simultaneously powerful and sturdy, causing the curses that were flying fiercely to bounce back and return to their original owner. So, back to Carlos.
He hoped she would suffer the same fate.
Ophelia glared at Carlos, who narrowed his eyes when he saw the curses returning.
She hoped he would be exploited just like her.
“You’ve created something quite useful, but do you think you can beat me with just that? With that body of yours?”
Carlos took a step forward. Yes, it was difficult to withstand the curses with the body that had been granted the shield.
Even if he endured, he couldn’t win. That’s why Hayden couldn’t grant the curse of Roo.
Because she couldn’t endure it. No matter how skilled a magician she was, she couldn’t beat time.
Carlos, who threw a fatal curse that needed careful healing over time, was delighted.
To Ophelia, his appearance seemed very foolish and dull.
“You don’t understand again. When did I say I would beat you?”
She didn’t boast about anything useless. Since it was a fact that she couldn’t win, she simply admitted it.
“If you don’t win, you lose.”
“You only have two thoughts in your head. It’s enviable to live so simply.”
Ophelia reached out her hand. Even if she couldn’t personally dispose of that scoundrel, it was okay.
Just witnessing him collapse would be enough. As the space distorted again, Carlos stood firmly on this land along with the Imperial Knights.
“Is it meaningful to keep fighting by changing spaces? It’s annoying now.”
“Oh.”
Ophelia’s eyes widened.
“I never said I would do that.”
A dragon, carrying the scent of the sea, appeared in the western sky.
“Dragon Lord!”
Flames once again rained down on the Imperial Knights. The Imperialle, entangled in a fight with them, groaned while looking up.
In the demon’s realm, demons constantly emerged. However, even if they tried to turn away, the ones facing them with swords were still humans made of bone, flesh, and blood.
Not only the Dragon Lord appeared. Carlos’s eyes widened. Behind Ophelia’s unbreakable shield, a figure with hair tightly bound and a powerful gaze appeared.
“Rustica…”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
