Each household maintained separate comments that were heard only within their blood ties. However, Catherine’s words were quite different from what people usually said.
“I hope you believe me.”
Catherine unexpectedly spoke very strongly.
“If I bow to the emperor, all the eastern nobles will despise us, and immediately, our mother and our beloved younger siblings won’t stay quiet, right?”
“We can’t just follow along with others’ foolishness and end up dead. Besides, our siblings can be well handled by you. Although our mother is a problem, if it’s the words of Duke Allanka, she will follow them.”
Cedric found his sister’s analysis quite amusing. No one had ever noticed that he knew how to handle his siblings.
“Surprisingly, you’ve seen through even that. Usually, you act like you don’t know anything.”
“I had to do that. Pretending not to know was convenient, but now I can’t leave home.”
Catherine knew there wouldn’t be a man proposing to her after he declared he would marry her. Of course, there might be those who covet her inheritance, but Cedric would take care of them.
“Yeah, I understand. Think it over.”
“Thank you.”
Returning to her quiet self, Catherine went back to the annex.
Boom, boom, thunder struck from all directions, and lightning flashed. Amidst the spectacle, the palm trees that had fallen, crushing Lou, slowly floated in the air.
The massive trees that had pressed heavily on her body remained piled up by the roadside. However, Lou couldn’t move. She tried to get up after clearing away the trees, but her body couldn’t respond. Getting up was impossible.
‘Probably the spine is broken.’
The part that was cursed was the most affected, so ribs were likely broken as well. Lou could do nothing, absolutely nothing, other than moving her arms with great difficulty.
It wasn’t as painful when she thought she had lost all her abilities. Running away, fearing she might stab the throat of her beloved, was pathetic and sad because she couldn’t do it properly.
Simultaneously, it was shocking. Since when had Hayden noticed?
A gloved hand grabbed the hand that was trying to feel the ground, as if catching the hand reaching out. The moment they touched, his power flowed entirely into her. It was forced, forcibly squeezed. Lou couldn’t refuse, and the curse that tightly enveloped her began to voraciously swallow his power.
“Don’t…!”
She desperately tried to speak but ended up coughing severely. Even coughing was a painful sensation, as if her lungs were being squeezed.
“Don’t say anything.”
He silenced her by clenching her jaw with his gloved hand. The curse, imbued with her power, began to greedily consume his strength.
“Uh…!”
Trying to speak in a hurry, Lou coughed heavily. She shook her head desperately, and the moment she did, the strength returned to his hand on her chin.
“If I were going to leave you in this state, I wouldn’t have come to find you.”
He supported her faltering figure again.
“I wouldn’t have dared to pretend if I were so weak as to appear this ridiculous. Understand?”
“I was so weak to the point of looking ridiculous; I couldn’t have dared to pretend I knew anything to you. Understand?”
The tightly pressed, low voice was intense. Anger filled the gray eyes.
“I believe in you every day, promise to love and be together, and now you’re trying to bear the responsibility I didn’t ask for alone? Who told you to do that?”
“You stabbed me, and yet those words come out of you? I’ve attacked you several times…!”
Even raising her voice was strenuous. Lou, who was barely managing to speak, stopped because her heart area hurt too much. Hayden immediately supported her, breathing heavily.
“So, you’ve shown even stabbing the heart. Why would you think of abandoning me after seeing I’m fine?”
Lou, who was breathing heavily, raised her head. ‘Shown’?
“Even if you stabbed, it didn’t hurt at all. Did you think it’s okay for you to do anything at that level? Is it not enough?”
“It wasn’t nothing…!”
The wounds were clearly severe. It was a fatal injury, and Hayden had been bandaged all along. It’s a basic knowledge that wizards don’t heal easily when their powerful magic is damaged.
However, Hayden tore off the shirt he was wearing on the spot as if tearing it apart. There was no time to stop him.
“No?”
Between the opened black shirt, a smooth chest was revealed. Clearly burned, the reddish and widened wounds, even after wiping her eyes and looking closely, were gone.
“Isn’t this nothing?”
There were no scars, and naturally, there were no bandages. Lou, who had lost words, looked up at him. Words leaked through her dry lips. The green eyes, greatly shocked, collided with the deeply sunken gray eyes.
“Intentionally…?”
“Yes, I did it intentionally.”
The angrier Hayden got, the tougher his tone became.
“I intentionally stabbed the heart and intentionally pierced through. Yes, it’s true.”
“Why?”
Her questioning voice, which now barely came out, sounded like a whisper.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
