“I didn’t assist you in this, Your Highness.”

Hayden clearly drew the line.

“You did interfere, though.”

Lu calmly spoke as she blocked incoming attacks with her sword. Her arms and hands still tingled from the lingering curse.

“Sorry about that. Was I in the way?”

As if. If it came to using people, Lu would even use Hayden. However, she now had no time to respond.

Driven back by the relentless attacks of the royal guards, she found herself in front of a body, thrown by Hayden. Behind her lay shattered glass display cases.

Once more, a sword swung at her. With a clang, the sword in Lu’s hand flew off. She didn’t miss the mixture of contempt and delight in the attacking guard’s eyes.

It’s all visible. The certainty that the ‘Imperial Knight Twin Year’ was nothing special and the sadistic pleasure in overcoming a renowned woman were all visible. Grinding her teeth, Lu grabbed a hefty staff from the display case to block the next attack. She didn’t want to lose to such a gaze.

Whoom!

‘Huh?’

Blocking the sword with a staff that vibrated heavily? Moreover, the impact was strong enough to send the guards flying.

Lu, unharmed, took a brief look at the staff she was holding and swung its jewel-encrusted end at the guards. It was an efficient attack targeting only vital points.

With loud thumps, two guards fell, and the rest, bewildered, began to use magic. Some even targeted Hayden.

“Who are you!”

Lu, who had barely deflected an attack, blocked the path of a guard demanding her identity.

“I didn’t ask you to protect me.”

Although Hayden chided her from behind, Lu continued to defend and counterattack. This hastily picked-up staff was surprisingly useful. No, it seemed to be no ordinary item; it even deflected the guards’ magic.

Had she been able to use magic, she would’ve unleashed immense power, but unfortunately, Lu could only swing it crudely. She blocked even the binding spells rushing at her.

“I’m a former knight.”

And so, the guards’ magic was deflected, and they were all pinned to the display cases.

Once the display cases’ defensive magic finished off the guards, she caught her breath. It wasn’t physical exhaustion but mental stress that weighed on her.

“I have a new loyalty oath to honor, so I must protect you.”

Hayden, who could have easily dealt with the guards himself, looked at her and was momentarily at a loss for words.

“Why?”

“Because I’m newly infatuated with you.”

“Please stop…”

“It’s unfair. I’m the only one falling for you.”

“Ah, quit your nonsense! Any trace of loyalty I had is dissipating!”

In a low voice, Lu vented her frustration and approached the shattered display cases.

“Ah, I don’t need your loyalty. I’d rather have your hatred.”

Insane! Absolutely insane! This is absurd! Ignoring him, Lu took a folded pouch from her robe and opened it wide.

She swept the objects from the shattered display cases into it. She didn’t want to go through the trouble of disabling the new protective magic.

“This must be good, right? We should know what it is.”

“The most valuable thing here is the scepter you’re holding. Its name is Dia Tu Marin, I believe.”

Looking down at the staff she had used to mercilessly beat the guards, Lu took it in.

The staff, almost silvery-gold and adorned with blue, was extremely heavy. In other words, it was festooned with a plethora of blue jewels, including a massive diamond at the tip.

“Ah.”
I know what this is. There were numerous portraits of Carlos proudly standing with this object, crowned with the emperor’s crown, in the Catat Palace. It was one of the five treasures symbolizing the emperor’s authority: the emperor’s crown, the orb, the sword, the seal, and the scepter.

“The emperor’s crown is missing. Is it upstairs?”

She decided to start by stealing from the display case. If it’s displayed with the most valuable scepter, it must be worth a lot.

“I don’t see the seal either. Carlos always carries that around.”

“What a shame. If we had it, we could have played pranks on several diplomatic documents and treaties.”

Shaking her head at Hayden, who was genuinely regretful, Lu thought.

Taking the emperor’s seal and showing it symbolically was something Carlos would do; Hayden had been considering deception from the start.

‘Carlos is no match.’

War would be a different story, but the two were too different.

“The orb is here.”

So, the emperor’s crown and the sword must be upstairs. Honestly, the sword and the emperor’s crown had much more symbolic value than the scepter and the orb, but this was something.

Happily, Lu put the orb in her pocket. Just because she could take them didn’t mean she could take everything. She had to choose carefully.

After all, Hayden was just a spectator, and she had to do everything. Considering her escape to Perseta, there was a limit to the weight she could carry.

Should I add just one more? No, two would work. Lu swept up the remaining items.

“Let’s go.”

“It seems they’ve found a body outside.”

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
