As Rozelia’s green eyes met Klaus’s deep navy eyes, she froze. Memories of their passionate entanglement in the carriage resurfaced, making Rozelia avoid his gaze and utter a bewildered voice.
“I… am a man.”
In response to Rozelia once again drawing a line, Klaus calmly curled the corner of his mouth. “That doesn’t matter.”
Rozelia looked at him with a puzzled expression at Klaus’s overly calm voice.
If this isn’t important, then what is? Is it really okay regardless of being a man? However, when Klaus mentioned his inclination, even when they first met in Rozelia’s state, it was as hot and assertive as it is now.
As she looked at Klaus with a confused gaze, he stared at her without a hint of retreat, as if he could devour her.
Feeling her chest sink under that gaze, Rozelia quickly averted her eyes. It wasn’t good. No, it was dangerous. She had disguised herself as a man to avoid getting entangled with him physically, but if it was possible even in her male state…
Her body, like Pavlov’s dog, instinctively seemed drawn to him.
“It seems the joke has gone too far.”
Ignoring her attempt to evade the situation, Klaus looked at her lips intently and opened his mouth, “What do you mean by a joke? Is it not important that you’re a man? How many times should I kiss you?”
Under Klaus’s assertive words, Rozelia’s face noticeably blushed. No, Rozelia, snap out of it!
She, who had learned a lot from the incidents involving Nadia and the Count, felt dominated by a strong sense that the more she got involved, the faster things would progress.
It shouldn’t happen any longer. It was dangerous for both her and Klaus. If they got entangled further, the tightly knotted knot would only make the thread shorter than its original length.
For her sake and Klaus’s sake, she couldn’t get involved anymore.
“I… I’ve never thought about having such feelings for someone of the same sex.”
In response to Rozelia’s firm statement, Klaus, who slowly rose from his seat, looked down at her coldly and said, “Then what was that kiss that day? You seemed to react passionately.”
Under Klaus’s direct words, Rozelia’s face blushed again. Trying to ignore her own reaction, she spoke as assertively as possible, “It was complicated because of Nadia’s matter.”
Klaus, who had been observing Rozelia blushing and avoiding eye contact, approached her calmly. Leaning over, he placed his hand on the sofa arm where she was sitting, and with a piercing gaze, he looked down at her.
“Be more honest with yourself, Antonio.”
As she turned her face to avoid his gaze, his breath felt close to her ears. Unknowingly, Rozelia tensed her shoulders. She hastily slipped away from the sofa, stood up, and moved away.
As she turned her face to avoid his gaze, his breath, which had become closer due to her attempt to evade, seemed to touch her ears.
Unintentionally tensing her shoulders, Rozelia, in a hurry, slipped away from the sofa, stood up, and spoke, “I have some overdue tasks, so I’ll get up first.”
With that, Rozelia bowed her head decisively and headed toward the office door.
Her heart was pounding like crazy. Due to the recent constant beating, her chest felt sore. However, even considering Nadia and the Count’s affairs, getting involved with Klaus was undoubtedly dangerous.
For Klaus’s sake…
Rozelia firmly made up her mind to avoid Klaus for the time being.
Clothed in an outing dress, Rozelia, sitting on the sofa and tilting a teacup, was scrutinized with concern by Closet.
“Do you really not need to go?”
“Yes… I have many other overdue tasks.”
In response to Rozelia’s hesitant voice, Closet sighed heavily with a solemn expression.
“Grandpa Vernas would probably be disappointed…”
Rozelia remained silent.
Closet was pretending to inquire about the health of Count Vernas, who was hospitalized. The Count had no major injuries visible from the outside, so he could have been discharged immediately. However, due to Klaus’s decision, he ended up staying in a special room for a month, receiving care from a nurse.
Closet was visiting the Count almost every day.
Although Rozelia also wanted to see the unharmed Count’s face, a lingering anxiety took hold of her ankles.
To be precise, she was afraid of getting involved with the Count.
She was afraid that her interference might worsen the Count’s condition or lead to a situation like Nadia’s. Perhaps it would be better for her and the Count if she refrained from any further involvement.
Seeing the shadowed expression on Rozelia’s face, Closet, who noticed it, tried to lighten the mood with a forced cheerful expression.
“Don’t worry; I’ll explain everything to Grandpa.”
After saying so, Closet put on an outing bonnet. Rozelia forced a smile and replied, “Please take care.”
Once Closet and Melda left in the carriage, Rozelia intentionally looked for work to clear her complicated thoughts.
Fortunately, Jeffrey willingly took on the task of cleaning the decorations in the mansion.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
