“I found Perel.”

Romie placed a sheet of paper, folded twice, onto the table. Asperan picked it up, and Romie calmly continued.

“In a deserted laboratory in the corner of the Mage Tower… he was found dead. It appears he took poison and ended his own life. That is Perel’s suicide note, left beside his body.”

Romie bit her lip as if suppressing something welling up inside. Instead of unfolding the note, Asperan rubbed it a few times with his fingers.

Perel. He had been one of Simia’s victims. In other words, one of the eighteen final test subjects of Kaimeloiyum.

After deposing Kaimeloiyum from the throne, Asperan had prioritized the futures of the victims above all else. He gave them places to belong and fully supported them in whatever they wished to pursue.
