Eleven at night. Most people would already be asleep at this time.
“Ugh, my feet are killing me.”
I returned to my room on the third floor of the research building, patting my stiff shoulders and waist.
It’s been two weeks since I took the job as a monster breeder.
Four walks a day for the puppies as a standard for two weeks, and now, even walking properly was a struggle after paralleling additional training and play.
But I can’t go to bed yet.
Instead of lying down in bed, I sat at the desk and took out a crochet hook. To excite our puppies tomorrow, I have to make sturdy toys in bulk in advance.
I picked up several thick sheets of fabric and laughed like a mad scientist.
“Hehehehe……. I’ll stake everything on raising you all as the best puppies. My cutie tiny awesome barkbarks…….”
I grasped a small chalk and wholeheartedly drew a pattern on the cloth. Then I suddenly realized.
I, is something wrong with my priorities right now?
(This is a time separator.)
For the past two weeks, I had completely forgotten about Asphayren.
“Ugghhhh.”
I pounded my forehead with a clenched fist, groaning as if my throat was constricting. My head rings with intense pain.
Perhaps startled by my unexpected selfreproach, our three barkbarks―Cutie, Tiny, Awesome, all together, I decided to call them that―stopped playing and crowded around me.
My sweet, cute children. Look at them worrying about Mom.
I gently patted the whimpering children. Reassured, they began to play across the snowfield once again.
Watching them, a proud smile naturally spread across my face.
‘Just a week ago, they were watching cautiously from a corner of the playground.’
In fact, they didn’t even come close to me for the first two days after they came out of the cage, except for Awesome, whom I met first in the arena.
But now they’re rolling in the snow, tearing at toys, and showing affection, asking to be petted.
I was so happy that I poured all my heart and mind into the three barkbarks, and…
I ended up pushing Asphayren to the back of my mind.
‘This can’t go on.’
I clenched my fist. I need to pull myself together and gain Asphayren’s trust and build a relationship to rise to the closest position as quickly as possible.
Up to now,
Take good care of the Moonlight Wolves.
Make Asphayren happy.
Earn Asphayren’s affection and become his closest confidant.
Promote Asphayren’s marriage as his closest confidant.
Asphayren throws a happy wedding, and I’m freed from this timed life!
I was moving with only these vague thoughts, but now it’s different. I’ll approach more meticulously with a plan.
I rummaged through the box in the corner for a notebook and a pen.
I had brought it to decorate the furglider but had never taken out the shiny new one.
I opened the notebook and first wrote ‘Project Marry My Favorite[Dash]Survive, Possessor’ on the first page.
“Hmm―.”
Good, good. I feel like I’m doing something now.
With a proud heart, I wrote ‘Goal1. Become the closest confidant’ on the next page. I even drew two underlines. Now it’s time to set a specific plan.
‘Let’s see. To become the closest confidant, I have to see him often.’
Naturally, the more you see, the more affection and mind follow.
But for the last two weeks, I haven’t met Asphayren even once.
If this situation continues, my importance will gradually fade in Asphayren’s eyes, and I’ll end up just ‘Servant1.’
That cannot happen. I have to stick to Asphayren like a cicada on a high tree, just like the closest trio.
I drew myself clinging to Asphayren in the corner of the notebook and was lost in deep thought.
‘I have many excuses to meet Asphayren regularly. I am a servant specially appointed by Asphayren. But to persuade Asphayren, I have to see his face first…….’
How does one meet a sovereign of a country?
Should I submit a petition? Then to whom should that petition be addressed?
I scratched my forehead with the tip of my pen.
“It’s difficult…….”
“What is it that you say?”
Then, a gentle bass interrupted my contemplation. I quickly looked up, hunching my shoulders.
“!”
Outside the fence stood a familiar face.
One of Asphayren Loarkin’s closest trio, Canis of ‘Might.’
“Ah, Canis…….”
Just as I was about to greet Canis, whom I hadn’t seen for a long time, I suddenly looked down at the drawing I had been doodling.
Thanks to my insane genius, Asphayren and I were drawn so realistically that even a passing dog could easily recognize who it was.
If someone saw this drawing and it reached Asphayren’s ears, I would be accused of harboring indecent feelings toward the lord…….
Immediate exile would follow!
I shoved the notebook under a cushion inside the pergola at a speed faster than light.
Then, I went outside the fence, greeted our guest with a natural look, as if nothing had happened.
“Sir Canis! It’s been a long time. What brings you here?”
“Yes, it’s been a long time, Miss Shuria. I stopped by as I was passing through the area. I was curious if you were doing well.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
