Raising my hand to my chest, I could still feel my heart pounding busily.

“He insisted that I’d been in his bedroom, but does that even make sense? He even mentioned I was holding a yellow rose.”

“If Prince Chaplin remembers that incident, won’t the Rochester family run into trouble?”

As I mulled over various possibilities, it suddenly struck me—Ricardo hadn’t uttered a single word since earlier.

Slowly, I lifted my head to look at him. Meeting Ricardo’s eyes always made my heart flutter, but now an unexpected sense of fear crept in as well.

Yet, I couldn’t help but ask.

“Why are you so angry?”

His face showed no clear expression. As always, he was unreadable. But then why did I feel so strongly that he was truly furious?

As if confirming my suspicion was correct, Ricardo gave no denial in response to my question.

“Was it because I was too oblivious? But I didn’t do anything that would actually expose us… I was just taking a walk, turned around—and there Prince Chaplin was, standing right there.”

Without a word, he quietly removed his outer coat and stretched his arm out to drape it over my shoulders. Wrapped snugly around me, the garment felt much warmer than I remembered.

Ricardo carefully adjusted the collar of the coat, still warm from his body heat, ensuring it covered me properly. Even after that, he didn’t let go.

Perhaps it was because his eyes had grown so dark and heavy? Even though it was broad daylight, I felt as if stepping outside would plunge me straight into night.
