Julian apologized for hurting Sabrina, yet he still seemed oblivious to when exactly he had hurt her.

“If you have nothing more to say, I’ll take your silence as agreement to our annulment and take my leave now. I have much to prepare before I depart.”

Sabrina turned away after offering him the most courteous bow she could muster. The path to the door felt unbearably long as she exhaled deeply.

“You could just teach me.”

With just a few more words, Julian effortlessly ensnared her heavy feet once again.

“That thing you call love—or whatever it is—you could just teach me yourself.”

Hearing his voice tremble faintly, Sabrina couldn’t form a single coherent thought. The urge to run straight to him stiffened her back.

“I don’t know what that is. I’ve never even thought it mattered. But right now, I can’t see any other woman besides you. It’s ridiculous—I haven’t even seen you do anything with Robert, that bastard, yet I’m imagining all sorts of nonsense like some pathetic, jealous fool!”

Sabrina squeezed her eyes shut, unable to control her heart, which kept leaping wildly without permission.

“If this is what love looks like—making a man act so pitifully uncool in front of a woman—then I truly hate it. But even so, I’m willing to learn. So please, Sabrina, don’t leave me.”

Sabrina opened her eyes. The light in them as she stared at the door was no longer confusion.

“Your Highness, Prince Paquin.”

At her call, he took a few steps toward her.

“That’s precisely why it won’t work between us.”

But his steps halted abruptly at her next words.
