Julian shrugged his shoulders again and cast his gaze out the window. Only then did Sabrina, having finally caught her breath, steal a quick glance at Julian. His face was utterly rigid.

For a fleeting moment, the thought crossed her mind: ‘Could he be hurt?’ But Sabrina shook her head. Such an emotion was utterly implausible for none other than Julian.

Ever since their arrival at the Rochester mansion, she had been so overwhelmed with nerves that no clear memories remained.

All she knew was that everything had concluded exactly as planned.

“It feels just like back then.”

Startled by Lienne’s sudden voice, Sabrina barely managed to pull herself out of her reverie.

“When?”

“When Ricardo left for Dermayer and our family was sentenced to ruin.”

Sabrina held her breath for a moment, recalling that time. Though she usually preferred keeping things light to ease her own heart, those days had been too hard to face with indifference.

Every day, she had truly understood what it meant for the world to go dark before her eyes.

“Don’t worry, Lienne.”

For Lienne, this moment surely felt exactly like that.

“It’s not over until it’s truly over. Isn’t that what you always said?”
