Shrugging my shoulders lightly and moving on, I heard Sabrina giggling behind me.

“Are you not going to answer? Where are you going?”

“If you’re bored, go play with Jonathan.”

I don’t have time for a quarrel with you right now.

“Are you ignoring me now?”

“Finally, you get it.”

Following the butler to the library, I ended up having a rather fascinating experience. To survive in this harsh world, I needed knowledge about the reality I was living in. Up to that point, it was a splendid idea.

First, I picked out the thinnest book from the shelf. However, opening the book ambitiously to read it all at once, I soon realized something.

I couldn’t read.

Thinking about it, it made sense. Knowledge wouldn’t just suddenly appear because I woke up from the dead.

“But, Sabrina.”

“What, what?”

“You… can you read?”

Slowing down and casually asking her, she looked smugly proud.

“Of course!”

The not-so-bright-looking girl irritated me with her mocking gaze, but pride wouldn’t solve my illiteracy.

“Can you teach me how to read?”

“What? Why should I?”

Just as I was about to retort with ‘never mind’ and turn away:

Thump.

My gaze inadvertently met the deep black eyes of a boy sitting at a distance.

‘Ricardo, you were here after all.’

The sunlight made his eyes shine with a mysterious glow.

He sat in a chair set up in the garden, using everything around him as a backdrop. His long legs, disproportionate for his age, were crossed as he painted, the very image of a young noble.

As I stood still, Sabrina, who had been grumbling behind me, bumped into me.

“Ouch, why’d you stop so suddenly?”

“Who’s that kid?”

I subtly probed Sabrina. Ricardo losing his memory must have been between his awakening and manifestation. But why did he become an unnamed child in the East Wing?

“What, who? Oh…”

Even as I conversed with Sabrina, I couldn’t take my eyes off the boy.

“I don’t know much. But one thing’s for sure.”

“What’s that?”

“He’s annoying.”

That’s rich coming from you.

“In what way?”

“He doesn’t respond when spoken to.”

I had an idea why, but didn’t elaborate.

Ignoring Sabrina’s comments, I observed Ricardo more closely. His appearance was shabby, and he had no attendants with him.

“He stays in the East Wing but sometimes comes here to paint. But why are you staring at him like that?”

He seemed free at first glance, but there were many watchful eyes around him.

“What? You have eyes to see, don’t you? He’s ridiculously handsome, right? I was totally shocked when I first saw him.”

The covert surveillance he was under would have been imperceptible from a child’s perspective. Thus, his only sanctuaries were the East Wing, the small hill leading from it, and the garden.

“Am I… similar to him?”

“What? An illegitimate child?”

Yeah, right, as if you, Sabrina, would know. Talk about…

“He’s not an illegitimate child.”

“How do you know that?”

“He doesn’t have the surname Pennel. He doesn’t have a name at all.”

“No name?”

The child in the East Wing wasn’t just forbidden from being addressed by name; he literally had no name. Sabrina’s unkind explanation continued.

“Word is he has a natural talent for painting, so Father brought him here, but Justin should really explain it properly.”

Even though approaching him would surely be unwelcome, my steps were already moving towards him.

One step, two steps, three steps.

He lifted his head as if sensing my approach. Our eyes met at close range. It was as if we were connected by an invisible string, my gaze drawn irresistibly to him.

At that moment, he tilted his head curiously.

‘What is this?’
An unbelievable emotion wrenched my heart. Even without a complete memory of my love, how could my heart feel so sore and painful?

The emotion I felt wasn’t the flutter of seeing a flower on the roadside, but rather the devastating feeling of beholding a crumbled ruin. It felt like my entire heart was being scraped by a red-hot iron poker.

I had thought the vivid emotions I felt last night were just a temporary whirlwind caused by the unbelievable events flooding in, but…

“Stay away from me.”

His voice, firm and clear, sharply cut through the emotions tearing at my heart.

“Why, why?”

“Don’t let a slave come near.”

“What?”

His low voice seemed too mature for a child, and his expression was unnaturally mature.

That’s why he was even more annoying. For the first time, I found myself agreeing with Sabrina’s opinion.

Sabrina snickered behind me.

Even when he blocked my path in the corridor, he wasn’t as irritating as he was now.

“Don’t laugh, Sabrina.”

I should have scolded her for her impoliteness right away, but I couldn’t help but scrutinize my own attire.

His situation didn’t seem much different from mine, but his handsome face was indeed remarkable. Whatever he wore, he just didn’t look like a slave.

Back in my room, I bit my thumbnail, lost in thought.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
