Startled, Min Woo knocked over the wine glass he was holding, and wine dripped steadily onto the floor.

“There’s no way that happened. Me… me saying that? You must’ve misunderstood something.”

“Hah! Misunderstood?”

Ji Yeon let out an involuntary laugh at Min Woo’s denial.

That night, Min Woo had refused to let her go, burying himself in her again and again—and cruelly, she’d heard him whisper that name more than dozens of times.

“Jung Se Ah, I love you, I love you, Se Ah.”

“You heard it not once, but dozens of times—and you call it a misunderstanding? Of course you don’t remember; you were completely unconscious that day. You couldn’t even recall how you made it home. Or… did you just erase it because you didn’t want to remember?”

Min Woo’s eyes widened in utter shock at Ji Yeon’s words.

Though her body had ached as if torn apart from their inconsiderate first time, her wounded heart hurt far more.

No matter how much she cried, pushed, or hit him—every time she tried to push him away, Cha Min Woo only clung tighter, calling out for Jung Se Ah.

Why hadn’t she given up back then?

What kind of great love was it that made her endure such humiliation?

Perhaps it was simply because he was the first person ever imprinted deeply onto her heart.

The one and only person who had entered my innocent, naive heart—that must’ve been why.

Min Woo couldn’t bring himself to look Ji Yeon in the face after hearing her words.

Ji Yeon stared coldly at him for a long while, then stood up and turned her back.

“Please take care.”

After Ji Yeon went into her room, Min Woo sat numbly in the living room for a while before clutching his head.

“This can’t be real. Eun Ji Yeon must be lying. There’s no way I could’ve done that.”

He might not have been a good person, but to have said something so utterly despicable…

His head throbbed as if it were splitting open.

Min Woo was gone by the time Ji Yeon came out to the living room the next morning—he must’ve left right after their conversation.

With their move scheduled for next week, Ji Yeon had plenty to do, so she decided to clear her mind first and start packing.

Even with a professional packing service, they’d said she should set aside important items separately.

“That’s strange… where is it?”

When she tried to organize her clothes and valuables first, she couldn’t find the luxury dress she’d recently bought after much deliberation.

She’d fallen in love at first sight with the exquisite dress, embroidered densely with tiny pearls, and despite its steep price—which she’d never normally pay—she’d bought it immediately.

“I kept it carefully, price tag still attached… where could it have gone? Where on earth did I put it?”

After searching everywhere for a long time with no luck, she finally gave up and decided to pack other things first.

“I really am losing it lately. It’s probably somewhere in the house. I’ll look for it again later.”

She’d already packed her jewelry, watches, and other valuables carefully; now unsure what to sort next, her eyes landed on the large wedding photo hanging on the living room wall.

Ji Yeon and Min Woo from three years ago.

Min Woo expressionless, while only Ji Yeon offered an awkward smile in their wedding photo.

Her mother had nagged Min Woo relentlessly just to get him to take that picture, even though he’d refused at first.

“Mom, I’m sorry. We shouldn’t have taken it—what a waste.”

She immediately dragged over a chair, climbed up, and struggled to remove the frame from the wall.

After staring blankly at the photo for a moment, Ji Yeon suddenly remembered something—she took the photo out of the frame and, grabbing nearby scissors, sliced straight through it.

First cutting the space between herself and Min Woo, then repeatedly snipping his figure into pieces.

Then, tossing the scissors aside, she started tearing it apart with her hands—and as she ripped, anger suddenly surged, so she crumpled the cut pieces fiercely.

“You rotten bastard! Aaargh!”

She’d wanted to feel absolutely nothing when thinking of him, but apparently, it was still too soon.

She didn’t even want to feel this anger.

Ji Yeon suddenly lay down on the floor and looked around the house.

She’d spent nearly three years here, yet not a single happy memory came to mind.

“What is there? Any memories from this house?”

Waking up at 5 a.m. to prepare breakfast for Min Woo, who left for work early.

Joo Ran barging in unexpectedly, nagging her to have a baby soon and forcing her to drink carp soup.

Joo Ran showing up at any random time, yelling at her or the hired help without warning.

Finding out later that Joo Ran had come over when she wasn’t home and thrown away her belongings—crying from hurt afterward.

Cha Min Woo’s cold, indifferent face, watching all that happen without a word.

Thinking back, the past three years here truly made no sense at all.

Ji Yeon took a deep breath to calm herself and quietly whispered to herself,

“I’ll never live like that again. From now on, I’ll live entirely for my own happiness. Exactly how I want, exactly as I wish.”

⋆⋆⋆

“Ha Young~ over here!”

Ji Yeon waved enthusiastically, calling out to her long-unseen friend, who, spotting Ji Yeon, quickly ran over and plopped down beside her.

“Ji Yeon! It’s been forever! I’ve missed you so much! My friend!”

“I’ve missed you too, Ha Young.”

They embraced each other warmly.

“Let’s order something first. What should we get? How about wine?”

“Wine sounds perfect! By the way, getting a job so suddenly in this day and age—of course it’s you, the overachiever! I’ll treat you as a re-employment gift—order whatever you’re craving!”

By the time they’d finished one bottle of wine and were opening the cork on their second, Ji Yeon cautiously began hinting at something she hadn’t dared tell anyone.

She trusted Ha Young as much as family, and she desperately needed to confide in someone about the suffocating weight in her chest.

But after listening to Ji Yeon for a while, Ha Young’s expression grew grave.

“Ji Yeon! Fine, let’s say I get that you need about six months. And even though I still don’t really understand, since this company was your dream all along, I’ll try to accept that too. But once a month—why are you meeting that guy? Are you seriously trying to win him back? No way, Ji Yeon! Are you crazy?”

Exactly as Ji Yeon had expected, Ha Young burst out in protest.

“What are you even lacking that you’re clinging to Cha Min Woo like this? Is it your looks? Money? Family status? You’re even more capable than him—why are you doing this? Is there a reason? Tell me—I won’t judge. Just tell me what made you decide this. You’ll feel less suffocated if you just say it!”

“Ha Young…”

She hadn’t felt sad, nor hurt by her friend’s words—yet suddenly, tears dropped from her eyes.

Actually, she’d locked away all her sadness and bitterness behind a dam, telling herself over and over, “It’s fine, I’m okay”—but just one genuine word of concern from Ha Young broke that dam completely.

“Ji Yeon…”

Ha Young hugged her tightly, her voice trembling with sympathy.

“You’ve really been through so much… sigh… What am I going to do with you? I should’ve started by comforting you. I’m sorry.”

Since they’d talked on the phone often, Ha Young already had a rough idea of Ji Yeon’s situation.

As Ji Yeon’s closest friend, she’d been frustrated that she couldn’t support her more—

But now learning there was an even bigger issue, her heart ached terribly.

“So… it’s just that you still haven’t completely given up on Min Woo, right?”

When Ha Young asked gently, Ji Yeon slowly nodded.

“Even though I’ve felt for three years that he’d never come to me, my heart still won’t fully let go. I don’t even know why myself. That’s why I did it—I just needed time to erase him from my heart. But it’s not because I’m holding onto him out of lingering feelings that I’m meeting him once a month.”

Wiping her flowing tears, Ji Yeon continued.

“I guess… I also wanted to give him—and that woman—something back.”

Ji Yeon trembled with rage, as if she’d just suffered the insult moments ago.

“If Cha Min Woo hated me so much and couldn’t forget her, he shouldn’t have married me at all. He should’ve coldly broken things off right then. If he truly loved her and couldn’t let her go, why did he spend the night with me? He shouldn’t have touched me even with a finger! He treated my love and efforts with utter contempt—as if I wasn’t good enough for him to keep, but too precious to give to someone else. Honestly, I didn’t even want to send him straight back to that woman he claimed to love so desperately.”

Ji Yeon’s face flushed red as she grew increasingly agitated.

“And that woman too—if she loved him so madly, she should’ve fought me, cried, clung to him—done anything to keep her man. Instead, she vanished only to suddenly reappear and cling to her married ex-lover.”

Ji Yeon cried out desperately, then panted, breathing heavily.

“She should experience it herself—the feeling of knowing the man you live with is spending time with another woman. If I suffered, why shouldn’t they suffer too? Am I not even allowed to hurt them, even just a little?”

Though Ji Yeon claimed she wanted revenge, to Ha Young, it seemed she simply couldn’t let go of Cha Min Woo—making up various excuses just to spend a little more time with him.

Her tender heart overflowing with unresolved longing.

But Ha Young didn’t want to wound her further with those words right now.

She just wanted to empathize, understand, and comfort her struggling friend.

“Ji Yeon… I’m just worried you’ll get hurt even more.”

Ha Young pulled Ji Yeon into a tight hug, gently stroking her trembling back.

“You only ever had genuine feelings for Min Woo… how did it come to this? You’ve liked him since college—that’s almost ten years.”

⋆⋆⋆

Eleven years ago, that day, Ji Yeon attended the long-anticipated freshman welcoming party she’d only ever seen on TV dramas.

Her close friend Ha Young was sick and couldn’t come to school that day, and the other classmates and seniors were already drunk and staggering around.

Sitting alone and quietly sipping cola, Ji Yeon caught the attention of two seniors who didn’t know her well. They kept pestering her to join the mood.

“Hey, what are you doing drinking soda all by yourself? We’re here to drink alcohol on days like this! What’s with a freshman acting all aloof? C’mon, raise your glass!”

One of the already tipsy seniors shouted loudly at Ji Yeon.

“Ah… I’m not allowed to drink.”

Still underage, Ji Yeon replied in a tiny, timid voice.

“What do you mean ‘not allowed’? If you drink, you drink. I’m supposed to avoid this stuff too because I’m on herbal medicine, but here I am drinking anyway.”

Not knowing her situation, the senior laughed to himself.

“Yeah, my body’s so weak I shouldn’t drink either—but here I am! Alcohol is medicine, right? Isn’t that so?”

The two obnoxious seniors exchanged ridiculous banter, then snatched Ji Yeon’s cola glass and tried to pour beer into it.

Just as Ji Yeon squirmed uncomfortably under their behavior—

“Stop it, you guys. Can’t you see she doesn’t want to? Why are you forcing someone who said no?”

Turning toward the voice, she saw a tall guy with short hair wresting her cola glass back from the obnoxious seniors.

“Oh—Senior Min Woo! I heard you weren’t coming today! Anyway, looks like you haven’t quite shed that army buzz-cut look yet. What’s with that hairstyle?”

The senior who’d lost Ji Yeon’s glass initially sounded annoyed, then recognized him and immediately switched to a cheerful tone.

“Yeah, I’ve still got a way to go before I lose that military vibe. But hey, aren’t you enlisting in two months? They’ll shave you even shorter—look forward to it.”

Min Woo chuckled, tousling the obnoxious senior’s hair playfully.

“Oh no, Senior—don’t say something so sad with a smile! I’m totally getting drunk and acting out with you tonight!”

“Sure thing—I’ll take all your nonsense. Let’s go over there. Gotta stay up all night together, right?”

“Deal, Senior!”

Senior Min Woo smoothly redirected the conversation, leading the two rowdy seniors away—and they left Ji Yeon alone.

“As long as you avoid those two, no one else here will bother you. Just hang in there. Welcome to our department, kid. I’ll see you around.”

Once the two seniors moved off, Min Woo quietly said to Ji Yeon and gave her shoulder a light pat.

Was this what people meant by a voice dripping with honey?

Hearing his voice sent shivers down her spine and made her heart race wildly.

Though his short hair and tan skin still carried a military vibe, his bold, handsome features couldn’t be hidden—and his tall, solid frame radiated pure masculinity.

For the first time in her life, Ji Yeon felt fluttery because of a man.

It felt as if a white aura glowed around him.

Thus began a love destined for no return.

Regret With All Your Might (Completed Main Story)

Side Story 5 Side Story 4

When yandere male lead believes she loves him — but she never did

“How dare you!”

“How dare you make me love you, only to cast me aside as nothing more than a friend?!?

“I will never accept that.”

“I will never let you return to him.”

“Even if I have to burn myself to ashes.”

“Even if I must shatter my purity, my dignity, my very soul.”

“I will never let you escape me!”

This was the first novel that introduced me to the matriarchal genre. I’ve read it three times already!

At first, the male lead despised the female lead. Later, he misunderstood that she liked him, so he condescendingly and reluctantly reciprocated her feelings.

Then, he suddenly discovered that she was kind to everyone in the same way, and there was already someone she cherished in her heart, and that person was not him.

The male lead couldn’t believe it, he became angry and crazy. He was determined to capture her body and heart by any means necessary.

Synopsis:

Want to see how a green tea bitch male lead falls in love with the female lead?

Want to see how he flirtatiously pursues the female lead?

Want to see how he gets slapped in the face repeatedly?

The male lead is a green tea bitch, a poisonous lotus, jealous, ruthless, unscrupulous, with a venomous heart, and he’s also a delusional maniac.

The female lead is righteous, positive energy-filled, kind, a holy mother.

Let’s see how two people with extreme personalities come together~

You’re bound to regret it if you skip this novel. Read the review & spoiler to find out what you might be missing!
