“Please settle the bill with this card. Oh, just calculate ours as well.”
There was Eun Ji-yeon, who used to be my daughter-in-law.
Juran witnessed Ji-yeon’s relaxed expression, which she had never seen before.
Seeing her becoming more radiant and beautiful, Juran’s mood soured instead.
Moreover, Ji-yeon’s eyes, glancing at her, seemed to mock her.
“Ji-yeon, do you know her?”
Feeling upset, the moment Juran opened her mouth to say something, a woman, who seemed to be Ji-yeon’s companion, approached them.
“Mom, why are you here instead of sitting down? I was going to settle the bill quickly and leave.”
“Ji-yeon, I need to buy you something delicious. What if you handle the bill like this?”
“Then, how about we meet again soon with your mother? When we meet next time, please treat me to something delicious, Mom.”

Ji-yeon’s voice, mixed with aegyo, reached Juran’s ears.
‘What? Mom? Did she get married in the meantime? Ha! How long has it been since that fox-like creature separated from our Minu, and she’s already married to some new man?’
Her old temper, wanting to treat Ji-yeon poorly again, gradually resurfaced.
But because she currently had no money, she forcefully swallowed back the words that were about to burst out with saliva almost reaching her throat.
There were too many eyes watching her.
Meanwhile, Ji-yeon, who referred to the woman as her mother, whispered something to her, and the woman, nodding slightly, looked at Juran.
‘What are these two doing, acting like a pair in public, seriously.’
“Ma’am, here is your card. Thank you.”
Taking the card, Ji-yeon glanced briefly at Juran, chuckled, turned around, and fist-bumped the woman beside her.
“Mom, shall we really start our date now?”

“Yes, the date begins now. I know a bit about that artist, so I’ll explain within the extent of my knowledge while looking at the works.”
“Oh my! Mom, you’re the best!”
Laughter enveloped the two, leaving a bewildered Juran behind, and soon they disappeared from her sight.
“Guest, the payment has all been made, so you can leave now.”
“Even though the bill is settled, why won’t this person leave? I’ll leave on my own, so please be quiet!”
As Juran retorted, waving her cane, her face turned red.
Ignoring the bewildered staff, she swaggered out of the restaurant, laughing heartily, with Ji-yeon and her companion walking in front.
‘You shameless girl. How dare you mock me? Did you laugh at me when I spoke? Just a little while ago, you used to tremble at my words.’
As much as she wanted to run and grab Ji-yeon’s hair and shake her, Juran endured, as the upscale department store would spread rumors easily. Her face turned a fiery red.
“Umm… umm…”

“Don’t whine like that; open your mouth properly. If you don’t eat this, you’ll go hungry until dinner. So, eat it properly now!”
Roughly taking the utensils, Juran’s face, forcing food into Cha Seung-jo’s mouth, was filled with irritation.
At a glance, it seemed like Cha Seung-jo’s mouth was forcibly filled with food.
“Uh… uh… uh…!”
However, trembling all over and making strange noises, Cha Seung-jo eventually spat out the food Juran was feeding him.
Though it was challenging to express accurately since his body was stiff, anger was clearly evident in his eyes.
“Are you in your right mind now? Why are you making such a fuss when you understand everything? Or is your mind also messed up? What are you really doing, asking me to kneel and beg to you even though I know you would have never found out if it weren’t for this incident!”
Juran opened her eyes wide and stared at Cha Seung-jo.
“What! Why are you glaring at me with such anger! The one who should be angry is me! If it weren’t for me this time, you wouldn’t have known, right? That you were playing around with that young girl, wow. What? A thirty-year-old with a young girl? And an actress on top of that? Ha! I don’t know if I’m doing well by enduring you here. You don’t even know the first thing about your own status.”
The more she spoke, the more annoying it became, and eventually, she tossed the utensils she was carrying to feed Cha Seung-jo onto the tray.
“Ah, so annoying, really. Why does this person make such a fuss only when I’m around? Isn’t this when you should be at your best? If even I abandon myself and run away, what are you going to do?”

Juran forcefully turned her head aside after putting down the tray and the food she was carrying on the nearby table.
Suddenly, the encounter with Ji-yeon a few days ago at G Department Store came to mind, making her even more furious.
“Really… that girl turns out to be a fox, really. Our Minu was pursuing her not long ago, and in the meantime, she meets another man. What’s more? With a hoarse voice, she calls her ‘Mom’? Ha!”
At that moment, the thought of Ji-yeon made Juran burn with anger again.
Moreover, Cha Seung-jo, who caused a scene whenever she came, added fuel to the fire.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
