The house was completely empty.

On the fifth day without Tae Kyung, the emptiness weighed heavily on Woo Yeon.

She spent her days running around the broadcast station and, without fail, returned home every night.

Thanks to the housekeeper who came by every Wednesday and Friday morning to handle chores, the house remained impeccably tidy—but precisely because of that, it felt even more desolate.

After showering, Woo Yeon dried her hair, grabbed a thick book, leaned back against the headboard of her bed, and stayed still.

“Yoon Woo Yeon, come here.”

Even though Tae Kyung wasn’t there, she vividly sensed his lingering warmth, as if he’d never left.

“I’ll be right back. Wait quietly for me.”

The sensation from the spot on her waist he’d touched during their last kiss remained clear in her memory.

Night after night, she’d burrow into his embrace trying to sleep, and every dawn—just before he left for work earlier than her—their eyes would meet briefly, and without fail, he’d leave her with a deep kiss.

“Sorry for waking you up again.”

He never forgot to apologize—but the next day, and the day after that, his kisses continued just the same.

Was it because they were newlyweds? Ever since their wedding, whenever he came home from work, they’d been intimate multiple times a day—but now, on the fifth day with nothing at all, she deeply missed Tae Kyung.

“He must be busy, right?”

The words on the page no longer registered in her mind, so she closed the book. She patted her long pillow a few times and tried to fall asleep, hair still slightly damp.
