She nodded in response to her manager’s question. “Sunshine Gu Gu” was the nickname she used while working here.

Unusually, people at this café called each other by nicknames instead of real names.

Even the name tag pinned on her dark brown uniform clearly read “Sunshine Gu Gu.”

She had chosen the nickname “Sunshine Gu Gu” to express both her pet Gu Gu and her longing to step back out into the sunshine.

Quitting drawing hadn’t been a difficult decision to make.

Accepting her doctor’s advice—that she shouldn’t keep leeching off Jo In Young’s life—she boldly gave up painting.

In hindsight, it seemed like the right choice. From the very beginning, it was the real Jo In Young who had been good at drawing.

It was something she had neither talent nor interest in, so quitting it now felt both refreshing and bittersweet.
