Min Je had been aware since childhood that he was good-looking—and he also knew that this was quite useful for making money.

One might wonder what physical appearance has to do with selling artworks, but after securing several advantageous positions thanks to his looks, he gradually mastered the art of leveraging them skillfully.

Thus, he felt terms commonly used in the art world—like “artist”—didn’t suit him at all. At best, he viewed himself as a businessman; at worst, merely a merchant.

Many had attempted to win him over. Well, “win over” wasn’t quite accurate—it was closer to outright seduction.

Women openly revealed their desires, hoping to spend a night with him while purchasing art pieces. Yet Min Je had no intention of selling his body for short-term gain.

What might be a fleeting indulgence for them was, for him, a serious risk capable of collapsing the painstakingly built edifice he’d erected at great personal cost.

Consequently, he disliked women who wore heavy makeup and emitted strong, expensive perfume. His aversion surfaced almost instinctively—no matter how calmly he maintained his expression, his brows inevitably furrowed whenever he stood beside such women.

Then, for the first time, he met a woman who made him think differently.

“Wow, after these adjustments, the shape of the face looks completely different.”

Ha Yeon, sketching the Giuliano plaster cast, expressed admiration upon seeing the parts Min Je had modified—though he’d merely redrawn a couple of lines on the sketchbook.

Min Je looked down at Ha Yeon’s face as if observing a curious creature.

Did she realize he was deliberately standing unusually close beside her? Probably not—nor did she notice how he intentionally brushed his hand against hers while holding the pencil.

Suddenly overcome with self-loathing, Min Je let out a short sigh.

“If you knew, you’d work even harder.”

He hadn’t meant to, yet those sharp words slipped out. Only then did Min Je realize just how cynical he truly was.
