At long last, the long-awaited exhibition had begun. Held by renting a studio in Gangnam, the venue was known for its accessibility and frequently hosted a variety of events.

Though not as massive as an event like KIAF, this was Ha Yeon’s first solo exhibition bearing her own name—thus, her emotions ran deeper than usual.

She was lost in a daze, gazing blankly at her own artwork, when the sound of footsteps approached—tap, tap—and then stopped beside her.

Ha Yeon instinctively turned her head—and her eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected figure standing next to her.

“Director Cha Yi Tae?”

“It’s been a while. Have you been well?”

Lee Tae, whose earlier sensitivity and sharpness had considerably softened, gave her a gentle smile as he turned toward her, hands tucked into his pockets.

Perhaps because Lee Tae had helped prevent Ji Hoo’s kidnapping, Ha Yeon no longer felt guarded around him—the discomfort she’d once felt in his presence had faded.

She’d heard he’d paid a hefty fine, unable to avoid punishment for his involvement in Eun Mi’s illegal art dealings. She’d been somewhat concerned, so seeing him appear now, perfectly unscathed, was a relief.

“I’ve been well. But I didn’t expect you’d come to see the exhibition.”

When Ha Yeon spoke with evident surprise, Lee Tae kept his gaze fixed on her painting and replied,

“There’s a piece I’m interested in—naturally, I came to see it.”

For some reason, Ha Yeon felt a flicker of embarrassment as he stared intently at her work.

Clearing her throat lightly, she glanced sideways at his profile and said,

“Thank you, by the way, for your help back then. Had it not been for you, Ji Hoo might have faced serious trouble.”
