Saturday, the day they had agreed to go on a date, had finally arrived. Seeing Jun Won and Ji Hoo come out to see them off, Min Je spoke as if making an excuse.

“Ahem, it’s for the preparations for KIAF.”

Jun Won, who had come over to look after Ji Hoo while they were out, crossed his arms tightly and replied curtly,

“You didn’t say a word anyway.”

His tone clearly distinguished weekdays from weekends, working hours from off-hours. Though it was amusing, for some reason Ha Yeon felt apologetic and couldn’t bring herself to smile properly.

“I’ll be back soon.”

As Ha Yeon struggled to find the right words while bowing her farewell, Min Je immediately corrected her from beside her:

“We won’t be back soon. We’re coming back after dinner, so keep that in mind.”

Hearing this, Mi Ran, who had been in the kitchen, wiped her hands briskly on her apron and stepped out, saying,

“Then for dinner today, let’s go with Ji Hoo’s favorite: the pork cutlet set meal.”

“That sounds delicious!”

Ji Hoo’s face instantly brightened. Smiling at the boy’s expression, Min Je gently ruffled Ji Hoo’s hair, then looked at the group gathered by the front door and said,

“We’re off, then.”

“We’ll be going now.”

Ha Yeon echoed his farewell and stepped out of the house. Though she had managed to say goodbye and leave, her mood felt strangely ambiguous.
