Ji Hoo suddenly let out a long sigh. Under normal circumstances, he would have played along with Min Je’s joke, but right now he had been about to say something extremely important—and that made it difficult to respond as usual.

Seeing Ji Hoo’s expression darken abruptly, Min Je was taken aback, while Ha Yeon bit her lip tightly to keep from laughing.

Still, she felt she needed to respond somehow, so she deliberately raised her voice and answered:

“Wow, that’s actually great news. I can’t eat chicken with beans in it.”

At that, Min Je shot her a sharp, piercing glare.

Huh? I wasn’t teasing you—wasn’t responding supposed to be the courteous thing to do? Ha Yeon gave a faint chuckle and took the bag from his hand.

“It’s the food I usually eat whenever I visit Byeolchae.”

Min Je spoke, sounding almost apologetic for not having prepared something more special. At the main house, they typically ate meals Mi Ran had prepared, so opportunities to eat takeout like this were quite rare. For Min Je and Ji Hoo, chicken was a special treat they could only enjoy when going out.

“Oh, please—no need to say that. Chicken is always the ultimate truth.”

Ha Yeon said this with intense seriousness, then swiftly arranged the food on the dining table.

A rich, savory aroma of oil filled the space. Ji Hoo, whose earlier gloominess had been inexplicable, approached upon catching the scent—his expression now completely relaxed.

“Ji Hoo, were you hungry?”

When Ha Yeon asked with a smile, Ji Hoo grinned bashfully and nodded. Such a cute little guy. Ha Yeon gently stroked the child’s cheek, then quickly sent him off to wash his hands.

The time spent eating together around the table was joyful.

“After all, Director, you really do think big.”
