David's Husband (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 10
The next day, after lunch, a black sedan stopped in front of the gate.
“We’ll be back soon.”
Ha Yeon and Ji Hoo, dressed neatly to visit the gallery, bowed to Mi Ran and stepped outside.
“Hello, sir.”
Ji Hoo greeted the driver familiarly and got into the car.
“It’s been a while.”
Jun Won, the driver, winked and smiled at Ji Hoo. Since Ji Hoo had visited the convenience store almost daily—using the car—to win Ha Yeon over, but had grown distant after succeeding, the gesture was meant playfully.
“Indeed. It really has been a while.”
Ji Hoo grinned and sat upright in his seat.
Jun Won noticed Ji Hoo’s expression and demeanor had grown remarkably relaxed, and smiled. It amazed and relieved him to see the boy—who once seemed as unstable as a leaf about to fall at the slightest breeze—now so calm and steady.
“It should take about 30 minutes to reach the gallery.”
Thus, he naturally extended polite courtesy toward Ha Yeon as well.
“Oh, thank you. Please feel free to speak informally.”
Even as Ha Yeon smiled and spoke, she carefully checked on Ji Hoo and fastened his seatbelt. As the saying goes, “One sees ten from one,” and Jun Won instantly liked this young lady.
After driving through the city for a while, a gallery with the word “Shim” written on it appeared.
“I haven’t been to a gallery in ages…”
Ha Yeon, stepping out of the car, spoke with slight nervousness. Though she used to frequent exhibitions and galleries with her parents while they were alive, she hadn’t had the courage to go since their passing, caught up as she was in the busyness of life.
“If there’s anything you don’t understand, just ask me.”
Hearing Ji Hoo speak so earnestly, Ha Yeon burst into laughter.
“You really are reliable, huh?”
Holding Ji Hoo’s small hand, her heart calmed instantly—as if she’d never been nervous at all.
“Then, I’m counting on you.”
Smiling at each other, the two walked into the gallery.
The building—gray, clean, and stylish—placed green plants at the entrance, lending a fresh vitality to what could otherwise feel stark and sterile.
Ha Yeon greatly loved the unique atmosphere of museums and galleries: the kind where one could quietly reflect while viewing works wholly embodying the artist’s worldview.
“I was just thinking it must be about time for your arrival.”
Min Je, who had been inside the gallery, quickly approached upon seeing Ha Yeon and Ji Hoo.
“Thank you for inviting us.”
Even as she greeted him, Min Je noticed Ha Yeon’s eyes darting toward the displayed artworks and chuckled softly.
“This is the artist’s first solo exhibition—Artist Kim Seon Jae. You’ll probably find many interesting pieces.”
Min Je pointed to the nearest painting: a cubist-style work reminiscent of Pablo Picasso.
Scanning the room, Ha Yeon saw vivid, colorful hues standing out in every exhibited piece.
“First, go ahead and take a look around. Ji Hoo, you can behave nicely and enjoy the exhibits too, right?”
As Min Je ruffled Ji Hoo’s hair, the boy confidently replied,
“Of course—I’ve already been to this gallery so many times.”
“Right, then—I’m counting on you.”
Min Je gave Ha Yeon a quick glance before saying,
“Yes, just leave it to me.”
Ji Hoo, quick to catch his request, grinned and giggled softly. Ha Yeon, realizing only belatedly that *she* was the one Min Je had entrusted to Ji Hoo, broke into an amused smile.
“Wait—exactly who’re you entrusting to whom right now?”
“Then I’ll go browse for a bit. I’ll be right back.”
Min Je smirked and walked away.
*Wow, he just ignored me.* Ha Yeon huffed lightly in exasperation—just as Ji Hoo, with overly serious intensity, turned to her and said,
“See? I told you to ask me if you didn’t understand something.”
“Yes, yes—I’ll definitely ask you if anything comes up.”
Unable to ignore the boy’s sparkling eyes, Ha Yeon obediently replied.
Unlike museums, galleries allow visitors to purchase artwork—hence the occasional sight of collectors conversing with gallery staff about buying pieces.
Min Je was speaking with one such person. Unconsciously, Ha Yeon found herself staring blankly at where Min Je stood. Whether by coincidence or not, Min Je happened to glance toward her just then—their eyes met squarely.
Like a child caught misbehaving, Ha Yeon startled and hastily looked away. Her heart pounded loudly, racing noisily in her chest.
*Why’d he suddenly look over here?*

She took a deep breath to soothe her startled nerves. Then, she quickly turned her attention to Ji Hoo.
“Do you like the artwork?”
“Hmm… I’m not sure.”
Ji Hoo’s uncharacteristically serious expression made Ha Yeon inhale sharply, struggling to suppress a laugh.
She glanced quickly toward Min Je—he was engrossed in his conversation with the collector. Only then did Ha Yeon finally relax, exhaling the breath she’d been holding, and turned cheerfully toward Ji Hoo.
“Alright then—I’m entrusting the tour to you.”
“Yes, just follow me.”
After exchanging another mutual smile, the two paused before each piece, carefully inspecting and appreciating the artworks.
Suddenly, their steps halted of their own accord before one particular work—a painting in which all figures inside the frame leaned sideways.
Instinctively, Ha Yeon and Ji Hoo tilted their heads, mirroring the direction of the tilted people in the painting.
After staring at the piece for quite a while with their heads cocked, the two realized their postures were identical—and burst into laughter.
“It feels like the world’s upside-down.”
Ji Hoo’s bashful smile was truly adorable.
“This one? We could just rotate the frame.”
If the tilted people were reoriented by turning the painting, they’d stand upright—but since touching exhibited work wasn’t allowed, the two delighted in imagining it together, giggling quietly.
“Oh? This piece has a red sticker on it.”
Ji Hoo pointed to the sticker affixed beside the frame. A red sticker meant the artwork had already been sold.
“Maybe, like you said earlier, the buyer wanted to hang the painting straight—so they bought it?”
Ji Hoo whispered as if sharing a secret.
“Hmm—not entirely implausible.”
Just as Ha Yeon and Ji Hoo exchanged meaningful glances, Min Je returned.
“What are you two talking about so animatedly?”
“Oppa said if we just turn this frame sideways, it’ll go back to—!”
“Ji Hoo?”
Panicked, Ha Yeon quickly cut him off.
Ji Hoo’s voice had echoed through the quiet gallery—several nearby people heard and suppressed quiet laughter.
“Hmm, quite a well-matched idea, actually.”
Min Je nodded in agreement and chuckled softly.
*What’s wrong with my idea?* Ha Yeon gaped slightly, taken aback by the incorrect impression apparently forming of her in Min Je’s mind.
“How about we continue the tour together from here?”
Min Je led the way forward, smoothly explaining the artist’s intent and themes behind each piece.
His sharp gaze when viewing the paintings—or the occasional, fleeting smile—kept making Ha Yeon’s heart flutter.
Perhaps due to the gallery’s naturally dim lighting, his profile looked like a finely sculpted statue—more captivating than any artwork on display: a living masterpiece commanding attention.
Just as Ha Yeon pretended to listen intently to Min Je’s words—though they barely registered in her ears—Ji Hoo, sandwiched between them, suddenly made an unexpected move.
“I’ll be right back—I’m just going to the restroom for a moment.”
*Huh? Suddenly?* Ha Yeon blinked, wide-eyed, unsure how to respond.
“Alright—but come back quickly.”
Since this clearly wasn’t the first time, Min Je readily agreed. Ji Hoo knew the gallery’s layout well after frequent visits, and the staff all recognized him—so no one seemed particularly concerned about him walking alone.
But trouble struck right after.
Ji Hoo placed Ha Yeon’s hand—which he had been holding—into Min Je’s.
“Please take good care of Noona until I return.”
So naturally did Ji Hoo’s gesture flow—like water—that neither Min Je nor Ha Yeon managed any immediate reaction. In that brief hesitation, the boy dashed off down the corridor.
“…”
An awkward silence descended upon them. Caught off guard, both froze, at a loss for what to do.
By the time they regained their senses, the sensation of their hands overlapping felt so vivid they couldn’t bring themselves to move—as if every cell in their bodies had gathered at their fingertips.
Having missed the optimal moment to pull away, they slowly, deliberately rolled their eyes upward.
After clearing his throat lightly, Min Je gently withdrew his hand and said,
“So… have you finished the painting?”
“Huh? The—the painting? Oh—no, not yet.”
She’d promised to show him the completed piece instead of using the studio—but she’d only just begun transferring her concept to a sketch; the work remained unfinished.

Clearly, when he’d initially asked to see her painting, it hadn’t carried this weight. Ha Yeon mentally retraced her steps, wondering if she’d misunderstood something—surely he wouldn’t press her for it like someone demanding repayment of a debt.
“I look forward to seeing it soon.”
If his aim had been to burden her, he’d succeeded—her first thought was already to revisit and refine the sketch she’d drawn.
“Yes… well, soon…”
Ha Yeon gave an awkward smile—then brightened as she spotted Ji Hoo approaching.
“Ji Hoo! Where should we head next?”
Ji Hoo couldn’t have seemed more welcome—like a long-lost relative reunited after years apart.
[This is the timeline separator]Leaving Min Je behind at the gallery—with his apologies for not finishing work in time to return together—Ha Yeon headed home first with Ji Hoo.
But after dinner, Ji Hoo’s expression looked odd.
“Ji Hoo, what’s wrong?”
“Hmm… my tooth’s wiggling.”
Startled, Ha Yeon examined Ji Hoo’s mouth. One lower front baby tooth dangled loosely, clearly about to fall out.
“Oh my—Ji Hoo’s already at the age where teeth start falling out?”
Mi Ran, just finishing up and preparing to leave for the day, chuckled.
Only then did Ha Yeon realize Ji Hoo was in the stage where baby teeth fall out and permanent ones emerge.
“At this point, it’ll probably just come out on its own.”
Mi Ran gently wiggled the tooth with her finger. Since Ji Hoo had used it while eating dinner, only a faint root attachment remained.
“Just in case—shouldn’t we go to the dentist to have it pulled?”
Ha Yeon asked cautiously, but Mi Ran waved her hand dismissively.
“Oh dear, young people these days—all the same. Even our neighbor, the newlywed bride, insists on going to the dentist for X-rays or something. Well—if it gives peace of mind, then sure, go ahead.”
Ha Yeon recalled having done something similar before: tying thread around a loose tooth, attaching it to a doorknob, and yanking the door open to pull it out.
Remembering how she’d removed a tooth that way during a visit to her grandmother’s countryside home, Ha Yeon simply laughed. Even so, she couldn’t possibly do that to Ji Hoo.
“Well then—I’ll take my leave now. Ji Hoo, sleep well.”
“Have a safe trip.”
“Yes, take care. See you tomorrow.”
Not long after Mi Ran left, Ji Hoo—who’d been brushing his teeth—suddenly called out urgently to Ha Yeon.
“Noona! Look at this!”
Ji Hoo rushed over, excitedly presenting a tiny tooth.
“Oh—it finally came out.”
Ha Yeon laughed wryly, carefully accepting the tooth he held out.
“Let me see.”
She checked Ji Hoo’s mouth, concerned there might be bleeding.
“Eee—!”
Ji Hoo tilted his head toward her, proudly displaying the gap where his tooth had been. As expected for a tooth falling out naturally, there was no blood and nothing abnormal outwardly.
Only—
*He’s too adorable!*
Ha Yeon gasped and pulled Ji Hoo into a tight hug. His missing front tooth made him unbearably cute.
“Ji Hoo—you absolutely *must* take a photo of yourself like this. Right now.”
As Ha Yeon pulled out her phone from her pocket, Ji Hoo shook his head and darted away.
“No way! I don’t want to!”
“Just once? Please?”
Ha Yeon burned with determination to capture—and keep—this photo, even if she had to beg. That’s how irresistibly cute his face was.
Just as Ji Hoo fled from Ha Yeon, thundering down the stairs—
“What’s going on? What happened?”
Min Je, having just returned from the gallery, entered the front door and stared, surprised, at the two.
“Appa, Noona’s—”
Ji Hoo didn’t finish his sentence, instead rushing straight to Min Je. Ha Yeon, following close behind, swiftly interjected before Ji Hoo could say more.
“Ji Hoo’s front tooth fell out.”
“Huh? His front tooth?”

Min Je blinked, momentarily stunned—then carefully examined Ji Hoo’s face.
“Noona keeps trying to take pictures even though I said I don’t want to—”
*Click.* Min Je, who’d already snapped Ji Hoo’s photo with his phone, belatedly responded.
“Huh? You didn’t want your picture taken?”
Ex-husband Wants Reconciliation
One-line summary: Chasing the wife to the crematorium (making an effort to attract someone who has become indifferent), the female lead doesn’t look back, the second male lead takes the position.

Intro:
To repay the kindness of the older generation, Su Mu crossed into a female-dominated world and became a live-in daughter-in-law of the Yan family, single-handedly saving the Yan family from fire and water.
But her husband, Yan Jiyue, the eldest son of the Yan family, treated her with sarcasm and never showed her a good face.
It wasn’t until after Su Mu’s death that this pampered and arrogant young master shed a few fake tears and pretended to want to die for love.
This life’s kindness was enough. If there was a next life, she would definitely kick Yan Jiyue away.
Who knew that the heavens would be so kind as to allow her to be reborn, returning to the time when she had just married into the Yan family.
Su Mu glanced at the Yan eldest son, who still spoke coldly to her, and threw a divorce letter in front of him.
“Let’s divorce!”
***
Yan Jiyue never imagined that he would be reborn. He happily went to find Su Mu, wanting to make up for the mistakes he had made in his ignorant youth.
Wasn’t the reason the heavens allowed him to be reborn to let him reconcile with Su Mu?
But when he pushed open the door to Su Mu’s room, the person lying on the bed was another man.
Su Mu’s personal attendant, Xie Yi.
Yan Jiyue hated him so much that his teeth itched. In front of Su Mu, Xie Yi was a gentle and considerate whisperer of sweet nothings, but in reality, he was vicious-hearted and deliberately sabotaged their husband and wife relationship.
In the previous life, it was he who secretly hid in Su Mu’s coffin and committed suicide, stealing a step ahead of him to be buried with Su Mu.
Yan Jiyue’s eyes were filled with hatred as he cursed, “What kind of thing are you? Your background is lowly, what right do you have to occupy Su Mu?”
Xie Yi looked at the sleeping Su Mu and no longer pretended to be a whisperer of sweet nothings.
He proudly stuck out his belly, “I have the right because my belly is capable of giving the Wife-master a daughter.”
***
Yan Jiyue was consumed with jealousy. He spread rumors that Xie Yi had once been branded with the mark of a “harlot” on his chest.
But on the night Xie Yi cut off the flesh bearing that mark, Su Mu suddenly realized something was amiss.
“How did you know the exact moment I was poisoned? And why did you show up a month early?”
Xie Yi remained silent, blood from his wound soaking through his robes. His sapphire eyes brimmed with anguish – or was it just a flawless act?
Between a once-arrogant husband now seeking redemption, and a gentle soul willing to die for her – who truly held the darkest secrets? And could it be that Su Mu and Yan Jiyue weren’t the only ones given a second chance at life…?
