Date Me! (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 78

Another day passed, and it was morning.

To prepare for the 9 a.m. leg surgery, Lee I Na changed her mother out of her hospital gown and into a surgical gown.

Thus, her mother entered the operating room once again, and the surgery turned out to be a major procedure lasting five hours.

After undergoing two consecutive surgeries, her mother returned to the recovery room utterly exhausted and in great pain.

Once back in the hospital room, all Lee I Na could do whenever her mother was in pain was call the nurse to administer painkillers.

Following the nurse’s instructions to keep applying ice packs, Lee I Na and Joo Won took turns doing so. Joo Won handled all tasks requiring physical effort, such as lifting her mother who was wearing a lumbar support brace.

The two stayed glued to their mother’s side, caring for her devotedly, and several more days passed until it was already the weekend.

Thanks to the surgery, her mother had regained some of the strength she’d completely lost and was able to speak fairly well again.

While chatting with Lee I Na about various things, her mother called Joo Won, who was standing nearby, over and tightly grasped his hand.

“I heard you came straight back from China because of me? I feel so sorry and grateful—I’m at a loss for words, making such a busy person go through all this trouble…”

Hearing her mother’s words, Lee I Na’s nose tingled.

“No, Mom. Of course I had to come down. And please feel free to speak casually now.”

Looking up at Joo Won, her mother smiled, tears welling in the corners of her eyes.

“What great fortune have I accumulated… to have such a lovely daughter as our I Na, and even her boyfriend is so wonderful…”

Her mother paused mid-sentence, her voice choked up.
