The roulette wheel spun round and round before stopping and pointing at Ina.
Coincidentally playing a truth game, Ina awkwardly smiled at Jeong Hoon’s friends.
A friend sitting next to Jeong Hoon asked first.
“Let’s start with an easy question. When was your last kiss?”
“Ah… Yesterday.”
As Ina answered with embarrassment, friends exclaimed ‘Ohh’ and tapped the table.
“Is Jeong Hoon a good kisser?”
At the next friend’s question, Ina awkwardly smiled and nodded affirmatively.
Again, the friends cheered ‘Ohh’ and gave Jeong Hoon a thumbs up.
However, unlike the joyful friends, Ina’s expression gradually hardened.

She was uncomfortable with the sudden plan, especially playing a truth game with Jeong Hoon’s friends she was meeting for the first time.
In this awkward situation, Ina reluctantly stayed in her seat.
Now it was Jeong Hoon’s turn.
Jeong Hoon, his face red from drinking too much, stared intently at Ina.
Not often a drinker, but once drunk, he would get completely wasted and hurl harsh words at Ina.
Now filled to the brim with pent-up frustrations, Ina braced herself for what Jeong Hoon might say next.
“How many guys have you slept with before meeting me?”
The table fell into a sudden silence as if doused with cold water.
“Hey! You crazy? What kind of question is that?”
A friend, taken aback, grabbed Jeong Hoon’s shoulder.

“Why? It’s a truth game. Tell me. How many guys?”
Jeong Hoon, clearly inebriated, demanded an answer from Ina.
Ina clenched her eyes shut.
It was as if the last string of rationality in her mind snapped.
“Ina, you don’t have to answer. He’s not in his right mind.”
Another friend, flustered, tried to restrain Jeong Hoon.
Ignoring Jeong Hoon, Ina quietly picked up her handbag and stood up.
Having endured the uncomfortable drinking session for three hours, she could no longer tolerate such vulgar and offensive remarks.
There was no reason to stay in this unpleasant setting any longer.
“What? Hey! What are you doing?”

Jeong Hoon stood up, glaring, as his friends quickly made him sit back down.
Ina, after casting a last look of disdain at Jeong Hoon, walked out of the bar.
Stepping outside, the chilly October wind blew harshly.
Reaching for a scarf in her handbag, Ina locked eyes with a man talking on the phone next to the bar’s door.
The man, wearing a black hoodie and a baseball cap, stared back at Ina as their eyes met.
Feeling awkward, Ina wrapped the scarf around her neck and slowly walked away.
Ina had been dating Jeong Hoon for almost five months.
They met on a blind date arranged by a friend, where Jeong Hoon’s cheerful demeanor and manners appealed to her. His active pursuit led them to a relationship.
Being the same age of twenty-nine, they even considered marriage, but over a month into the relationship, Jeong Hoon gradually began to show possessiveness towards Ina.
He would pick her up from work every day, and if Ina worked overtime, he’d wait outside her office, suspecting she might be meeting another man.

He even got caught secretly checking her phone.
Whenever her phone rang in his presence, he tried to see who it was, especially if it was a man, and he would get irrationally upset, no matter who it was.
Jeong Hoon’s excessive need for physical affection to confirm love and his intrusions when Ina was out with friends, calling incessantly until her friends left first due to discomfort, were suffocating her. In the midst of this escalating obsession, Jeong Hoon suddenly took her to meet his high school friends.
Feeling awkward in front of his friends she had never met, Ina tried to maintain a smile throughout the gathering. However, Jeong Hoon threw the worst grenade with his question.
What kind of man asks his girlfriend how many men she’s slept with?
How foolish did Park Jeong Hoon consider her all this time? Did he see her as a possession to be toyed with at will?
She had endured his relentless pursuit, thinking it was out of love, but now she saw clearly. Park Jeong Hoon was trash, not even worth recycling.
Deciding it was truly time to end things, she walked away, only for someone to suddenly grab her wrist from behind.
It was Jeong Hoon.
“Let go.”
Ina said, but Jeong Hoon didn’t release her hand.

“You think I’m a joke? So laughable that you’d embarrass me in front of friends by asking how many guys you’ve slept with?”
As Ina asked with a contemptuous look, Jeong Hoon chuckled derisively.
“What? Struck a nerve? How many guys have you slept with that you can’t even count?”
Ina bit her lip in anger and tried to shake off his hand, but Jeong Hoon gripped it tighter, dragging her away.
“Let go! Let me go!”
Ina screamed, but Jeong Hoon didn’t let go, drawing the attention of passersby.
“Let go! Let me go, you crazy man!”
Then, Jeong Hoon suddenly turned around, revealing his white eyes.
“What? Crazy? Are you crazy?”
Twisting Ina’s wrist mercilessly, he caused her to scream.

At that moment, someone grabbed Jeong Hoon’s shoulder.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
