Since the two of them had also been grumbling in the background, they deserved punishment.

“Don’t pick a fight with me over trivial matters. We may have had disagreements before, but remember that our relationship is strictly business now. Got it or not?”

Placing my hands on my hips, I demanded an answer. The three men finally nodded.

“…Understood.”

“…Got it.”

“…Yes.”

Not entirely satisfied, but having gotten a response, I clapped my hands to hurry my colleagues.

“Let’s move quickly. We’ve wasted enough time. We’ll head to Celeste Viscount’s residence in zone Duo[Dash]2, rendezvous with the people there, and immediately return to the Keaton Duchy.”

So, the goal for today was met.

Michael, Ruth, and Benedict all nodded obediently.

‘Good. If only they always listened like this.’

I hoped that the constant petty issues would subside until this hellish group assignment was over.

“Damon Princess and Nadia, you too should get ready to… Huh?”

“Hmm.”

“Hm.”

Sherry and Nadia were suddenly glued to each other, arms folded, glaring at me.

Both seemed very interested as they watched the squabble between me and my party members.

“What… What? Why are you looking at me like you’re enjoying this…?”

“It’s fun!”

“Oh my… This is quite an interesting situation. Hehe.”

Despite having had a strained relationship in the past, they seemed to enjoy talking amongst themselves.

“What is it?”

“It’s more fun for you not to know.”

More people seemed to have joined in on mocking me along with Zero.

I looked away from their twinkling blue eyes and picked up my baggage.

The others in the drawing room also picked up their own baggage or stored them in their space pockets, ready for departure.

“Let’s go! Ruth, the spell!”

“Got it.”

『Shadows, hide our presence for a while.』

Having grown used to the sound barrier and invisibility spells, we quickly moved toward the Celeste Viscount’s residence.

Joining with Sheri and Cloud, and the few remaining servants of the House of Daemon, their arrival took longer than expected.

“My feet hurt, brother.”

“Endure it a little longer.”

Part of the delay was due to taking into consideration Sheri, who had never walked for such a long distance.

‘Noble ladies usually travel such distances by carriage.’

For Sheri Daemon, who had always been surrounded by the finer things, the current situation could come as a substantial shock.

She was worried that Sheri might complain about how hard it was, but Sheri didn’t say a word.

Instead, my brother Cloud stared at his leather shoes and said,

“This won’t do. These shoes are uncomfortable. Brother, I also want to wear flat shoes. Preferably in comfortable leather? It would be nice if they’re similar to the ones you’re wearing.”

“Marie, do we have any flat shoes that Sheri can wear among the luggage?”

Cloud asked Marie, one of the House of Daemon servants accompanying them.

Marie hesitated before answering,

“I apologize. There are no flat shoes suitable for the lady to wear.”

“How about she wears mine?”

“Your shoe size is too big, brother. She could easily trip and fall. And if she disturbs those zombies, we’re doomed.”

Sheri pointed at the swarming zombies around them as she complained.

Even though they had concealed their presence with magic, navigating through the zombies without alerting them was a nerve-wracking experience.

During the journey, avoiding any zombies, the servants of the House of Daemon looked like they had aged 10 years due to fear.

‘I should have brought some extra pairs of shoes when packing my luggage.’

While I was fumbling with my empty pockets in regret, Zero, who was sitting comfortably on my shoulder, let out an annoyed grunt.

“Hey, don’t feel guilty for something that’s not your fault. These people would have starved to death there if it weren’t for you.”

‘No, it’s just that… I regret not thinking of it sooner.’

It was something I hadn’t considered.

Even though I knew noble ladies wore pointy-heeled shoes, I subconsciously thought they’d have comfortable shoes like sneakers.

That’s understandable. After all, Elizabeth Keaton’s shoe rack had flat shoes and boots similar to what I am currently wearing.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
