The Pope, Thierryneus, was bewildered.
‘How did I end up in a situation where I have to fight monsters?’
Like Zero, who consistently called him a cunning old man, the Pope had no intention of actively participating. Despite wanting the hero’s radiance, he was a pathetic human with no enthusiasm for fighting zombies.
The reason the Pope, who had fled, appeared was due to the emergence of the Gate bestowed by the gods. It would have seemed odd if the Pope, who received the blessing of the gods after several hundred years, did not step forward. Also, he saw it as an opportunity to appear before the survivors of the capital and play the role of a savior, especially because of what young Lady Elizabeth Kitten had mentioned about her divine power over zombies.
However, the situation did not unfold as smoothly as the Pope’s black intentions.
‘I thought I could just avoid the body since the Warp Gate could be installed anywhere in the empire.’
The two younglings, Prince Aston and Duke Kitten, had involuntarily involved the Pope in the task of defeating zombies. The two worked well together. Watching them corner the Pope, it seemed as if Duke Kitten had skillfully manipulated Prince Aston.
‘Damn it!’
Even the grand title of a saint couldn’t prevent the Pope from shrinking in front of the 2nd Prince. Prince Aston was different from a crown prince.
Before his cruel aura, the Pope had no choice but to abandon his plan to present himself as a savior. Prince Aston was too fierce and sharp to play the role of a savior, and he was openly hostile to the Pope.
It would have been nice if there was a suitable scarecrow-like figure…
The Pope had to swallow his regrets. His grand goal, which he had pursued amid chaos, had been distorted since the time he ran away from Michael, the saint, yet he pretended not to notice.
Sending an absurd letter to Elizabeth Kitten, he consoled himself, saying that it was worth coming this far. Otherwise, he might have exploded with frustration in this situation where he had to face zombies on foot without saying a word.
“Pope, Your Holiness, is there anything uncomfortable for you? You haven’t spoken since earlier.”
Yeah, it was all because of that damn woman!
‘Elizabeth Kitten.’
When the 2nd Prince spoke directly without showing any courtesy to the Pope, Elizabeth’s attitude became insolent too.
“…It’s nothing.”
“That’s good. Since you’ve come this far, it’s not something you can turn back from and stroll back to the Warp Gate.”
The straightforward words without pretense set fire to the Pope’s anger.
‘How insolent…!’
His teeth gritted, but he couldn’t retort. It was the truth.
Elizabeth Kitten, 2nd Prince Aston, the Pope Thierryneus, and the rest of the group were present, using magic to conceal their presence, near the street where zombies were moving around.
They were heading towards the recently established Warp Gate near the cleared northern castle gate. Originally, it was an area where commoners and the poor lived.
“Interestingly, when the gate appeared, zombies were swept away by the radiant divine power. Somehow, they couldn’t approach this area well. It’s like beasts instinctively knowing they shouldn’t get too close.”
“…I see.”
It was indeed a strange occurrence. After the Warp Gate appeared, a path resembling a belt of light was created. The narrow path, wide enough for only about one adult male to pass, extended to the front of the gate, and zombies couldn’t approach around it.
So, they walked along that path, observing the movements of the zombies.
“Grrrr…”
The sight of zombies walking with inarticulate groans, shedding blood everywhere and decaying, was gruesome.
‘It’s nauseating…’
For the Pope, who had smoothly followed an elite course until reaching his position, it was a scene that turned his stomach. The air was so foul that he wanted to vomit immediately, and visually, it was not pleasant. Once human, but now looking like monsters, he didn’t want to spend even a minute longer near the zombies.
“Ugh.”
“The situation is more serious than I thought. How did this happen…”
The few priests the Pope brought along seemed to have their faces turned pale. They barely held back their nausea, covering their mouths and noses with their hands.
On the other hand, Elizabeth Kitten, Prince Aston, the arrogant mage, the proud elf-blooded spirit mage, and the knight Michael, who seemed dissatisfied with the Pope, appeared unaffected.
They leisurely looked around at the zombies, checking their weapons.
“Your Excellency, are the magic bullets okay? If the magic is insufficient or there are defective ones, I can recharge them.”
“Oh, Luce. It’s okay. Everything I had was top-notch, so there’s nothing to throw away. They’re all as good as new, so don’t worry. And, Luce, you should save your magic. We never know what might happen.”
“Hmm. That’s true.”
“Lou. Were you just trying to show off to His Excellency…?”
“Oh, no? I was just asking out of loyalty to His Excellency, you know?”
“But the fairies say that what Lou does is like a dance of constraint…”
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
