Soon, even breathing indicated she had fallen asleep quickly, exhausted. Ki-tae sighed, pulled the covers up to her neck, and sat on the edge of the bed.
His irritation had peaked when he first saw her curled up with a fever, but now, seeing her sleeping peacefully, he felt a sense of calm.
“Why am I so fickle…”
He muttered to himself.
“Forgot to give her medicine.”
But he decided not to wake her. If her fever worsened, he planned to take her to the hospital.
Sitting there, he couldn’t help but feel slightly resentful towards the person who had caused him so much turmoil yet now slept so peacefully.
Ki-tae gently tapped the soft tip of Autumn’s nose as she lay sleeping.
“You said you didn’t like me.”
But why was she in front of my office building?
A laugh, almost like a chuckle, escaped him as the corners of his mouth turned up slightly. Ki-tae stood up, disturbed by the continuous ringing of his phone.
Intending to leave his room to let her rest, Ki-tae glanced back at Autumn, curled up in sleep.
“Such a contradiction.”
Complaining yet lingering around, words and actions contradicting each other.
He wasn’t sure whether her words or her contradictory actions were the truth, but he decided not to care anymore.
‘You do whatever you want, why can’t I?’
Ki-tae left the room, closing the door quietly behind him, a faint smile on his face.
The missed calls were mostly from Park Kwang-jang, a few from Secretary, and occasionally from Mi-jung.
Rrrr… Rrrr…
Before he could decide whom to call first, Mi-jung’s number popped up again. Ki-tae, now more relaxed, answered the call.
“Yes, Mother.”
“Ki-tae!”
Mi-jung’s voice was laced with urgency.
“Why did you leave like that, making me worry? What’s going on… and why were you looking for Autumn all of a sudden?”
What should I tell her?
His head started to ache again with all the hassle.
Ki-tae, rubbing his head, blurted out something.
“I was planning to visit the Busan branch and decided to take Yoon Autumn with me.”
“To the gallery? Why Autumn…?”
“I thought I’d take her along to give her some training.”
Glancing once at Autumn’s bedroom, Ki-tae continued vaguely.
“I was supposed to leave immediately, but she forgot about the appointment.”
“So, did you find her?”
“Yes.”
“Are you heading to Busan now?”
“Yes.”
Having lied about going to Busan, it seemed he’d need to take a day off from work. Ki-tae, having vaguely sorted things out, made a few requests to Mi-jung before hanging up.
“Tell Grandfather I won’t be able to come to the office for a couple of days. And tell Yoon Autumn’s mother I’ve gone to Busan.”
“Alright. And visit home more often.”
“Yes.”
After the call, Ki-tae called Park Kwang-jang.
“Found Yoon Autumn, so you can stop looking.”
“Yes, Director.”
“Thank you for your work.”
Now, what to do about that man in the CCTV? Ki-tae’s mind returned to the suspicious man.
He wanted to get rid of him immediately, but without any direct information from Autumn, he couldn’t make a decision.
After a moment of silence, Ki-tae spoke again.
“If someone suspicious loiters near the gallery again, report it immediately.”
Autumn woke up the next morning, startled.
“Oh, right. I fell asleep at the Director’s office.”
The unfamiliar setting made her eyes wander. The space, with just a white bed and an office desk, was significantly smaller than his room in the main house.
Awkwardly arranging his bedding, Autumn got up, feeling much lighter after a good rest.
Creak, as she opened the door, she came face-to-face with Ki-tae, who was tying his tie. Unaccustomed to seeing him prepare for work, she hesitated for a moment.
Ki-tae, having scanned her from top to bottom, was the first to speak.
“How are you feeling?”
“Much better, I think.”
Ki-tae stepped closer and touched her forehead. Surprised by his sudden touch, Autumn looked up at him.
“Seems so.”
Ki-tae promptly picked up his jacket and headed for the front door.
Autumn, wanting to say something she had been prevented from saying before falling asleep, gently grasped his sleeve. She had wanted to say this as soon as she woke up.
Feeling the faint tug, Ki-tae stopped, looking down as if asking if she had something to say. Autumn met his gaze squarely and hurriedly spoke.
“I don’t hate you, Director. Really…”
“Is that so?”
“Yes?”
Surprisingly, Ki-tae, who had previously dismissed her words as insincere, readily agreed this time.
Startled, Autumn could only blink, and Ki-tae turned back inside.
Regaining her senses, Autumn followed him. Ki-tae, noticing her following, turned back to her and, after a moment of silent observation, suddenly lifted her by the waist and placed her lightly on the table.
Now at eye level with him, their gaze met seriously.
“So, why did you say that before?”
Feeling like this was her last chance to be believed, Autumn confessed honestly.
“Cha Hye-su told the Chairman something strange, and the Chairman told me not to be seen with you.”
“…”
“I ended up lying to you because of that, and I just said something I didn’t mean to quickly send you away…”
While Ki-tae listened to her, he changed the subject instead of responding.
“Who was the man causing a scene in front of the gallery? Do you know him?”
“Ah, that…!”
Autumn hesitated, lips trembling.
It seemed necessary to tell him, but she needed a lot of courage. Talking about Uncle Dae-jun would inevitably lead to talking about her father.
Feeling unable to discuss it while sober, Autumn hesitantly asked Ki-tae.
“Director, could we perhaps… have a drink together this evening?”
Ki-tae, momentarily surprised, soon nodded.
Relieved, Autumn smiled at him, a smile she hadn’t shared in a long time.
Ki-tae watched her smile for a moment and let out a small laugh himself. Then, he turned to leave.
“I’ll just check the gallery and be back. Don’t go anywhere, stay here.”
“Yes, Director.”
Relieved, Autumn exhaled a sigh of relief as she watched him leave.
It was brief, but a small smile lingered on Ki-tae’s face too.
My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.
The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
