“What’s Jin Seon-woo’s family like? A political family begging for votes every election season. How can our Park family, responsible for the nation’s economy, compare to the beggars of the Jin family who grovel for votes? Haven’t I told you multiple times?”
Stunned by Park Kyung-min’s outrageous words, Green felt dizzy. It was clear how he always viewed Seon-woo.
Green couldn’t have good feelings towards Jin Yeong-cheol, who disliked her, but Park Kyung-min’s words insulting Seon-woo were unforgivable.
“Labeling a national representative as a beggar and comparing democratic elections to charity is such a poor philosophy. For the sake of K1 Construction’s public image, Director Park Kyung-min should avoid media interviews.”
Taken aback by Green’s sharp counter, Park Kyung-min’s face reddened.
“How dare you!”
As Park Kyung-min raised his arm as if to hit her, his wife grabbed it tightly.
“Honey, please. There are too many eyes here.”
Despite his wife’s pleas, Park Kyung-min still seethed with anger. Green stood her ground, scared yet unyielding.
Suddenly, a strong, firm arm pulled Green into an embrace, protecting her perfectly from Park Kyung-min’s threat.

“Put that arm down!”
Shocked, Green turned to see her husband, Seon-woo, shielding her like a mother bird protecting her chick.
“Seon-woo?”
Surprised, Green looked up at her husband, who appeared leaner and tanner than before but still handsome, robust, and unnecessarily sexy.
With him stepping in to defend her, Green felt fearless.
‘Is this what a husband’s support feels like? They say a husband should always be on his wife’s side.’
She began to understand how Park Kyung-min’s wife felt emboldened by her husband’s presence just moments ago.
Lost in her thoughts, Green was jolted back to reality by Seon-woo’s voice, colder than Siberian frost.
“If you continue to threaten my wife, I might just have to make sure you can’t use that precious arm of yours for a while.”
“Jin Seon-woo, you! Honey, let me go, let me at him!”
Enraged and humiliated by Seon-woo’s stern warning, Park Kyung-min raged, but his wife clung desperately to his arm.

With Park Kyung-min’s typical middle-aged physique and Seon-woo’s nearly 190 cm height and athletic build, it wouldn’t be a fair fight.
And this was Park Chan-wook’s birthday celebration, after all!
Knowing this, Park Kyung-min, though loud, didn’t shake off his wife’s grip.
Click-clack.
The sound of calm footsteps approached through the crowd.
Green, still in Seon-woo’s embrace, peeked towards the source of the sound. It was her mother-in-law, Park In-young.
“Stop it.”
“Ma’am, Vice Chairman.”
Park Kyung-min and his wife straightened up and fixed their attire upon seeing In-young. Park Soo-ho’s wife discreetly slipped away.
“This gathering is to celebrate my father’s birthday, isn’t it a bit too noisy?”

“Well, you see…”
“I think I heard Park Kyung-min talking about Jin’s family and Park’s family, but I couldn’t hear well from afar. What was it about Jin’s family and our Park family?”
Under In-young’s icy gaze, Park Kyung-min and his wife lost all color in their faces.
While Park Kyung-min stood dumbfounded, his wife kneeled on the spot.
“I’m sorry, Vice Chairman. My husband had a bit too much to drink. It won’t happen again.”
She kept bowing to In-young, pulling at her foolishly standing husband’s arm. Reluctantly, Park Kyung-min also knelt beside her.
In-young frowned and said, “Drinking too much is not good. You two should leave now.”
“Yes, we will. Thank you, Vice Chairman.”
Park Kyung-min’s wife helped him up and led him away from the scene.
Finally, In-young turned to Seon-woo, still holding Green protectively.

“What’s going on? When did you come to Korea?”
“I arrived this afternoon.”
“You didn’t mention that when we talked earlier.”
“I wanted to surprise you, but I didn’t expect it to turn out like this.”
As Seon-woo gave a bitter smile, In-young looked at them both and chuckled softly.
“Well, you did surprise me.”
Feeling Seon-woo’s arm around her shoulder, Green became acutely aware of his touch.
She gently pulled away his hand from her shoulder, and thankfully, Seon-woo let go easily.
“Seon-woo, we should go greet Grandfather.”
“Yes.”

As In-young returned to Park Chan-wook, Green moved closer to Seon-woo and whispered.
“What happened? You should have told me you were coming!”
Although she scolded Seon-woo for not informing her in advance, her voice couldn’t hide her happiness.
Being alone in her in-law’s gatherings, having her husband as a shield was a newfound experience for Green.
“…Sorry for being late.”
“It’s okay. I’m so happy you’re here.”
As Green smiled brightly, Seon-woo’s expression softened for a moment before furrowing again.
“Why have you lost so much weight?”
His concern came out more brusquely than intended, causing Green to deflate instantly.
Hanna had said she looked beautiful, and that she was at her best today!

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
