After the formal meeting, the two months leading up to the wedding passed in the blink of an eye for both Seonwoo and Green.
Interestingly, amidst their busy schedules, there was no room for wedding preparations.
Seonwoo’s business division, responsible for the development of a private resort in Marseille, France, got busier as K1 Construction was selected as the final contractor. The individual pool villas of K1, designed in traditional Korean Hanok style with beautiful, unique gardens, outshined the competition.
When Seonwoo visited master carpenters he had befriended over time, the usually gruff craftsmen pushed drink after drink his way. It felt like he was almost pickled in alcohol for those two months.
Green was equally occupied with finishing previously contracted shoots. A photoshoot for Morgan, a model and her next major client after Jenny, was a project she particularly cared about. Since first meeting the 17-year-old Morgan at the modeling academy four years ago, Green had always had a soft spot for her, treating her like a younger sibling.
After Green took her first professional photos, Morgan’s career as a model took off. Now, many photographers lined up to work with her, but Green remained her top choice.
“The photoshoot in Thailand, can you do it for me? It’s for 3 nights and 4 days,” Morgan had asked Green the day after she first met Seonwoo.
Green hesitated, as she usually declined trips over two nights due to her mother’s condition. Not being affiliated with a famous studio or working as an assistant to a renowned photographer was also due to this reason. But with the thought of not being able to work after marriage, she didn’t want to miss this opportunity.
“I’ll do it. Share the schedule and concept with me.”
“You’re serious, right? No take-backs later,” Morgan insisted.

Though the photoshoot team preferred a more experienced photographer, they couldn’t override Morgan’s insistence. Green, determined not to be a burden, spent sleepless nights preparing for the shoot and worked tirelessly upon arriving in Thailand.
“Morgan, last concept! Hang in there!”
On the fourth day, Morgan, who had been showcasing a splendid suit fit, transformed into a sexy hippie under the expert hands of the stylist. Despite his tall, excessively slim figure, Morgan looked fabulous in the camera angles with his small face and long limbs.
“Looking great, Morgan. Look straight ahead at the camera. Okay, done.”
With the final click of the camera, cheers and applause erupted from the staff. It was a moment of great achievement for Green too.
“Green, hurry up and join us for dinner,” an exhausted but satisfied Morgan said, wiping sweat off his forehead. They planned to return on a night flight to save budget, leaving them with limited time.
Green changed from her grey box tee and cargo pants, which she had worn for four days straight, into a blue dress she almost forgot to wear.
Morgan took Green to a rooftop restaurant with a stunning sunset view over the sea.
“Wow, this view is amazing.”
“The food tastes even better.”

Green watched Morgan order various dishes with excitement. Unbeknownst to the public, she was actually the president of a small company supporting model Morgan, though the actual investor was someone else.
When Hyunsu Jang, a Gangnam building tycoon, came to Green with photos she had taken of the rookie model Morgan, expressing his desire to sponsor Morgan, his condition was that Green would become the representative and handle external affairs.
Recognizing this as a mutually beneficial opportunity for both herself and Morgan, Green readily accepted Jang’s offer.
Thanks to financial stability, 22-year-old Morgan had become a rising star in the fashion industry.
“How’s your new place? Do you like it?”
“It’s like a palace. Is the company really paying my rent?”
“Of course. The lease is in the company’s name.”
As Morgan chewed a piece of steak, he asked, “When will I meet Director Jang Hyunsu?”
“Why do you need to meet him?”
“He’s the real backer, isn’t he? I thought it’d be polite to greet him.”
Green, taken aback by Morgan’s curiosity, rolled her eyes nervously. They had never met, so it was natural for Morgan to be curious.

“Director Jang is like a hikikomori; he hates meeting people.”
“How did someone like that make so much money?”
“He inherited several Gangnam buildings from his father, who was in the loan sharking business. He’s planning to transfer you to a major agency when you become more popular and collect a significant transfer fee, so don’t feel indebted. It’s all business for him.”
While chewing on grilled asparagus, Morgan asked seriously, “Does he have a thing for men?”
Choking on her drink at the unexpected question, Green exclaimed, “What? No, he really likes women!”
“So, he has a crush on you then?”
Green burst into laughter at Morgan’s continued suspicion.
“Hey, Director Jang is in his fifties, and he has a girlfriend. He just appointed me as a nominal president because he’s shy. It suits me as I’m juggling two jobs.”
“That’s a relief then.”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
