He wanted, by any means necessary, to soothe her exhausted heart. He bit gently on Orentia’s dry lips, transferring warmth—as if to say she wasn’t alone in this ruined world.
‘I’ll stay with you forever.’
Dimidius’s kiss was deep and desperate. Orentia, who had been as still as stone, slowly moved her lips in response. She had finally realized Dimidius was truly beside her.
When the long kiss ended, Orentia’s lips trembled. Crystal-clear tears, like morning dew, fell from her eyes.
