“Yes. She’s gone, leaving behind divorce papers and a note.”

Kilrun ran his hands through his hair in dismay. Always composed, he now looked utterly shocked.

But Dimidius was even angrier—so furious that standing beside him felt like standing next to an open flame. Under that overwhelming aura, Kilrun seemed to shrink smaller and smaller.

Dimidius stared straight at Kilrun and asked,

“Were you the one who told the lady she’d found a new contractor?”

Although he considered Kilrun his only friend, Dimidius was on edge because this involved Orentia.

Seeing Dimidius like this, Kilrun barely managed to force out the words.

“I’m deeply ashamed, Your Grace. Truthfully… last night, my lady and I went to the Cave of Life and Death together. It was she who found the person with the divine power suitable for you.”
