“I trust you, my lady. So I’d like us to enter a contract based on mutual trust—not be met with sudden suspicion like this.”

Indeed, Dimidius also seemed to view their arrangement as a mutually beneficial contract. If she acted carefully from now on, perhaps she could even avoid the future foreseen in Daphne’s prophetic dream. After all, she had already changed the future once in the Odor territory, so she didn’t believe it impossible to alter what the Saintess had seen.

Orentia spoke to him with a satisfied expression.

“I pushed you too suddenly, didn’t I? I’m sorry. I just felt that anxiety come over me all of a sudden.”

“I haven’t done anything at all. Are you telling me these thoughts just came to you out of nowhere?”

She still couldn’t bring herself to mention meeting Saintess Daphne with Crown Prince Regalis’s help. Once she’d started hiding it, it only grew harder to speak of.

Orentia nodded and walked toward the entrance.

“Yes. I should go to bed now. We’re leaving early tomorrow morning.”

Tomorrow was finally the day they’d head north to the Grand Duke’s manor. Though she’d only stay there for about five months, she felt a mix of curiosity and anticipation. Since they’d be there through spring and summer, she wouldn’t see snow, but it would certainly be refreshingly cool.

Dimidius followed her inside and said,

“Then please do get a good night’s rest.”

Orentia brushed off his words lightly and returned to her room. Dimidius, on the other hand, seemed headed to his study—perhaps he still had work left to do.

‘Not everything about being a Grand Duke is wonderful.’

Seeing how busy he must be, Orentia instinctively let go of any lingering thoughts about starting a business.
