Just then, several men approached Dimidius. They all wore expressions brimming with curiosity.

“Uh… it’s about a business matter—could I have a brief word with you?”

“Me too! I have a business venture I’d like to pursue with Your Grace!”

“Please give me a chance as well!”

They seemed to have many questions regarding business.

Orentia thought this was perfect and handed Dimidius over to them.

“Yes, please go ahead and talk. I’ll be off now.”

She felt she might end up arguing with Dimidius if she stayed with him any longer. It was their first official appearance together as a married couple, and they certainly couldn’t afford to quarrel in front of everyone.

Orentia wandered around holding a champagne glass, thinking the men who approached Dimidius—despite his gloomy aura—were truly brave. The Founding Day anniversary ball was always crowded, and it seemed trouble was bound to arise.

Orentia herself didn’t look pleased either, yet quite a few people still came up to her.

“Duchess, this might be an impertinent question, but I’m simply too curious—how did you and His Grace meet?”

Faced with the question from a noblewoman, Orentia racked her brain as hard as she could. Many noble daughters and ladies were eagerly awaiting her answer.

“I accidentally boarded His Grace’s carriage, mistaking it for mine. That’s when we first met.”

Though she didn’t enjoy lying, there were simply too many curious people—it couldn’t be helped. Orentia felt it was better for their marriage to appear as an ordinary love match. She didn’t want inheritance issues to surface unnecessarily, and she doubted anyone would understand that theirs was a contract marriage.

Another noble daughter spoke up, clearly intrigued by Orentia’s story.
