Ollentia didn’t think so at all. Even if Morin had stopped her, she would have gone to Angkedo’s hideout. She was not so stubborn as to listen when someone tried to stop her. At that time, Ollentia had been firm in her own thoughts and determined to accomplish her goal.
Seeing Morin’s worried expression, Ollentia said, “Don’t feel guilty. I wouldn’t have listened anyway.”
“Thank goodness you’re safe, Miss.”
“I’m generally healthy! I wouldn’t have been defeated by a liquid magus.”
“That’s true. What could I have done even if I had stopped you?”
Then Count Odor brushed Ollentia’s hair behind her ear and said, “The Archbishop will visit in the afternoon. Are you okay with that?”
Ollentia was surprised. “The Archbishop? For me?”
“Yes. He’s coming because your efforts were greatly acknowledged, from Count Odor’s church embezzlement case to Thomas’s murder case.”
“I’m naturally fine with it! I have something to tell him anyway.”
“Your wedding is only ten days away. Don’t get your hopes up too much. I’ll introduce you to another man, my dear niece.”
Although Count Odor dropped a hint, Ollentia didn’t want to give up her last remaining hope.
After Count Odor and Morin left, Ollentia quickly bathed and dressed.
She couldn’t meet the Archbishop with a pale face full of pain.
By the way, now that she was completely healed, where did Dimidius go?
She had been subtly waiting for him, but he didn’t seem to be around today.
Ollentia tilted her head in confusion.
“What…? Where could he have gone?”
Archbishop Verbus arrived at Count Odor’s residence. Ollentia felt that calling him for a bedside visit seemed a bit rude, so she received him in the drawing room.
Archbishop Verbus looked at Ollentia and spoke politely, “Is your health all right? I heard you were very ill for a while.”
Ollentia raised a cup of warm tea and smiled brightly. “I’m all better now. I’m fine.”
The conversation about her health continued for a while. It was a remarkable improvement for the Archbishop, who usually disliked wasting time.
Then Archbishop Verbus got to the main point.
“Thank you. Thanks to you, we caught the culprit. I heard that you knew the culprit from the beginning. Is that true?”
Ollentia nodded her head. “Yes. I heard everything Angkedo said in the church backyard. I started investigating who this Angkedo person was from that moment.”
“At first, no one would have believed that Angkedo was such a person. It must have been tough.”
“I thought there was no choice because Angkedo had built up a reputation in Odoreng.”
“Still, it’s impressive. How did Lady alone plan to trade forbidden magical devices?”
“I thought I could find out his location that way. It was risky because of his stubbornness, but I don’t regret it.”
In the end, it seemed to be because of Pietà waking her up in a dangerous moment, and Dimidius rescuing her.
“And if only I could use holy power…”
If she had that ability, she wouldn’t be afraid of anything. Now that she saw someone who could create white spheres in front of her, she became curious for no reason.
After thinking for a moment, Ollentia asked him, “By any chance… do you know how to create white spheres with holy power?”
“…?”
“Of course you do.”
“It’s such an unexpected question… I thought you were going to talk about the wedding.”
“That’s true too. Is there really no way to cancel the wedding?”
The uncle had already crushed her hopes before the Archbishop arrived, but the wedding issue was the most important to her.
Archbishop Verbus sighed for a moment. He had received two unexpected questions in a row.
After a while, Archbishop Verbus spoke with a serious expression, “There is no way to cancel the wedding.”
“Ah…”
“Instead, as Count Odor suggested earlier, try changing the person. Choose someone other than Lord Lukas.”
So this is how it’s going to be. Ollentia’s spirits sank, and the corners of her mouth drooped. However, she knew that even if she solved the embezzlement case and Thomas’s murder, the wedding issue wouldn’t change. So Ollentia wasn’t very surprised and was accepting his words.
Ollentia held her cold hands together.
“I only have one option left. So, as long as it’s not Lord Lukas, anyone will do, right?”
To Ollentia’s words, Archbishop Verbus nodded willingly.
“I’ll take responsibility for that.”
Ollentia had made a promise without even knowing who her future husband would be. Archbishop Verbus was sure that he would regret this decision later.
Ollentia spent the rest of the time talking about how to create white spheres with him. Of course, she didn’t tell the Archbishop that she had holy power. That would have been premature.
The Archbishop’s last words stuck in Ollentia’s heart.
“In the end, you must believe in your own power. Without belief, you will never be able to make it happen.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
