“Ugh!”

My husband, wearing a white Bauta mask, groaned in pain.

It was a kind of rampage. His eyes turned blood-red, and his back writhed as if something was about to emerge.

The one who discovered my rampaging husband was Orlentia, who shared a bed with him.

Orlentia hastily threw off the cumbersome blanket and grabbed his hand.

Contact.

She wanted to transfer her holy power through touch to alleviate his suffering.

But even with her hand in his, he seemed unable to calm down, emitting a growl like a beast.

“I need more, right now!”

It was almost the end for him. His desperate and earnest feelings were palpable.

Orlentia knew exactly what was needed.

She swiftly removed the mask he wore and dove into his lips, believing that the contact of their most sensitive skin – their lips – would surely stop the rampage.

The moment their lips touched, his ragged breath transferred to Orlentia, filled with sorrow and regret. He must not have wanted to rampage like this.

Suddenly, he whispered between their lips, “You’re all I have.”

A deep kiss followed. Their heads turned, mixing sweet and bitter emotions.

He bit her lips, then frantically explored her mouth, as if longing for something. Orlentia felt her consciousness blur.

That’s when it happened.

“Miss Orlentia!”

A very familiar voice reached her. It was high-pitched and clear, the voice of Bobbi, her dedicated maid.

She snapped back to reality. The moment she opened her eyes, she saw a white canopy fluttering above.

“Ah, it was a dream? I knew it.”

Of course, such a passionate and beautiful man couldn’t exist in real life. In the dream, when she directly removed the mask, her husband had a remarkably handsome face. Furthermore, the idea that she possessed holy powers and was married to a rampaging husband was a dream filled with unique imagination. It was an absurd dream, indeed.

“Sleeping in, Miss? Do you remember what day it is?”

Prompted by Bobbi’s question, Orlentia quickly got up, regaining her senses.

“I haven’t forgotten today. It’s time Sokor finally returns our inheritance.”

“Indeed, Miss. It’s already been three years since you came of age.”

“Exactly. He says he’ll return it with my dowry when I marry. But I have no intention of marrying yet.”

“Of course, Miss. You know best how many suitors you send away every day.”

Orlentia was very popular among eligible bachelors but was famous for turning down every proposal.

Dipping her hands in the washbowl Bobbi had brought, Orlentia said sharply, “There are no suitable men. I don’t want to marry for money or political reasons. I wish Sokor would come to his senses.”

After washing her face, Orlentia, with Bobbi’s help, dressed in a gown once favored by her late mother, Marisa. It was a deep green satin dress, not quite suitable for a vibrant twenty-three-year-old like Orlentia but fitting her mother’s physique, thus avoiding a ridiculous look.

Orlentia let her honey-like, lustrous platinum blonde hair fall calmly before looking at her reflection in the mirror.

“My cousin Sokor has been the guardian in place of our deceased parents for quite some time. Now that I’m an adult, I want to be independent. I must.”
Sokor’s persistent refusal to return the inheritance was highly suspicious. Orlentia wanted to trust him, but she couldn’t trust his wife, Countess Kikozelia, who was always by his side.

Resolute, Orlentia headed to the grand council hall of the Count’s mansion, where the elders’ meeting was in progress. As she stepped on the carpet, her steps slightly veered due to nervousness. She kept swallowing dryly.

“Don’t be nervous. I am the rightful heir of the Armeniaca Count’s family.”

The entrance to the grand council hall was guarded by soldiers.

“Step aside.”

At Orlentia’s firm command, the soldiers hesitated and exchanged looks.

“Miss Orlentia, there’s an important meeting in progress…”

When a soldier nervously spoke up, Orlentia widened her eyes in disbelief.

“Isn’t it wrong that I, a member of the family and the Count’s household, cannot attend? Don’t you think?”

‘I’m being treated like a stranger. Isn’t that right?’

Orlentia’s voice, clear and assertive, resembled her mother, Malisa. The soldiers, knowing the respect the late Countess Malisa commanded, couldn’t oppose Orlentia, who wore her mother’s dress.

Eventually, the soldiers opened the doors to the council hall.

Upon her entrance, the ongoing discussions among Count Sokor and the elders ceased. Sokor stared at Orlentia with flounder-like eyes. His hair, slicked back with pomade, and his neat black three-piece suit added to his stern appearance.

Orlentia, unyielding, walked towards her cousin Sokor, who looked impenetrable.

Click-clack!

At the moment her velvet shoes reached Sokor, he reprimanded her first.

“What is this intrusion during an important meeting, Orlentia?”

Unfazed by his rebuke, Orlentia spoke confidently.

“What about my inheritance? Do you really plan to return it?”

The elders glanced around, trying to grasp the situation.

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
