For a moment, Ra Jin recalled the scene when she had filmed herself drowning. Back then, she couldn’t take even a single step forward, terrified of the pitch-black water.

Something she absolutely had to do, with no way to run away. She had already exhausted her courage, yet she squeezed out every last drop, throwing herself into the rippling water. It felt as though someone were grabbing her ankle, pulling her downward—deeper and deeper.

Her ears felt muffled, her breath grew tight, and just as the crew’s voices began fading into the distance, it was as if the very thread she’d been desperately clinging to, connecting her to the world, had been cleanly severed. That was exactly how Ra Jin felt now.

“Ra Jin.”

His warmth still cradled her cheek, yet her whole body felt numb, as if seized by cramps, unable to sense anything at all.

“Are you okay?”

His voice buzzed in Ra Jin’s ears as though spoken above water.

‘Am I okay?’

Ra Jin quietly asked herself.

Then, suddenly, she remembered her dream from last night.

Had her mother appeared to say goodbye, telling her to take care? Or had she suffered some horrifying nightmare hinting at death? But there had been no prophetic dream—only deep, peaceful sleep beside Ji Ho.

“Haaah.”

Ra Jin blocked the sigh escaping her lips with both hands and looked up at the sky above his head.

A clear, cloudless, beautiful sky. Even on such a bright, sunny day, someone could still die.

She remembered how, on the day her father had passed away, violent wind and rain had raged as if signaling the end of the world. Looking now at the pale blue sky, Ra Jin felt relieved. Wherever her mother was, wherever she’d gone—it seemed the weather there would be nice too.
