At that moment, a student with short hair leaned towards Wooyeon.
“Is it really Yeonwoo’s mom?”
Turning her head towards the student’s name tag with a questioning gaze, Wooyeon saw the child who had torn Yeonwoo’s books. The most dominant child among the five who had been bothering Yeonwoo.
The name shakes the gaze. Wooyeon coldly smiled and parted her lips.
“Yeah. Are you Hyesun?”
“Yes? …Yes.”
Wooyeon sidestepped her just like that. She checked the seat Hyesun had vacated, and she swiftly picked up a book lying on the desk.
The book had the name Kim Hyesun accurately written on it.
So, there was no reason to hesitate. Wooyeon tore it to shreds.
Surprised, Hyesun asked what she was doing, and Wooyeon looked directly at her face and said, “Listen carefully. As soon as you get home today, without leaving anything out, tell your parents about the fact that I tore your book.”
“…”

“Don’t approach Yeonwoo from now on. Don’t even make eye contact or talk to her. Do you understand?”
Despite her unjust expression and being someone other than Wooyeon, anyone would feel overwhelmed in front of Wooyeon. Hyesun, too, answered in a subdued voice.
“…Yes.”
“What you and your group did will be appropriately punished. Your father being a prosecutor? Always relying on parents’ backgrounds like this? Try it again this time. I’m confident.”
Aside from Anchor’s distinctive clear pronunciation, Wooyeon’s glamorous appearance seemed to penetrate through the screen. She clearly emitted an atmosphere that only she possessed.
Enchanted by that atmosphere, everyone lost words and inwardly admired her.
At this moment, the ones trembling and clutching their chests were the kids who had been tormenting Yeonwoo.
Wooyeon turned her gaze back to Yeonwoo.
“Let’s go outside for a moment with Mom.”
Sending a warm and affectionate gaze different from when dealing with Hyesun, Yeonwoo brushed her long hair aside and slowly approached Wooyeon.

Wooyeon firmly held Yeonwoo’s hand and led her out of the classroom.
“Wait here for a moment. I’ll talk to the teacher that I’m taking you.”
“Yes.”
Yeonwoo, standing blankly at the end of the hallway, looked pitiful, so Wooyeon had to hurry.
Driving Yeonwoo in the car, Wooyeon traveled a long road and then some.
It would take three more days for Taekyung to return to Korea, and she had already adjusted her schedule at the broadcasting station just before departure.
After a two-and-a-half-hour drive, they arrived at Wooyeon’s deceased grandmother’s house in Cheongyang.
A blue sky, trees dyed entirely in yellow, cosmos flowers, and a refreshing breeze. October in Cheongyang displayed a truly fantastic scenery.
Wooyeon, who had been silent until now, opened her mouth for the first time.
With a face that had now completely softened, she looked at Yeonwoo and said, “Get out.”

“Where is this?”
“Our grandmother’s house.”
“Grandmother? But she passed away…”
“Yeah. But the house is still here. Looks like I didn’t clean up back then for this reason. Mom told the school. We’ll spend two days here, you and me.”
At those words, Yeonwoo scratched her head.
“In these clothes?”
“There’s nothing wrong with it.”
“But the school uniform.”
“You can get any clothes you want. Aside from that, Cha Yeonwoo.”
“…”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”

After showing a hurt expression, Yeonwoo lightly tapped the ground with her shoes for no reason.
About to say something about shoes wearing out, Wooyeon pressed her lips tightly.
She didn’t want to be a mom who only nagged, but it seemed inevitable for the role of a mom.
“Are you going to leave my feelings torn apart like this? Why did you endure that? If they bothered you, you should have returned it as it was. You were good at it. Even if I slightly disturbed you when you used to read, you would scratch the boy’s knees. Where did that momentum go?”
“…Because I shouldn’t do that anymore.”
“What?”
“Now, I’m your daughter.”
“…”
“So, now I know I shouldn’t act recklessly like before.”
“Yeonwoo.”

“Why didn’t Mom tell me?”
Before asking, Yeonwoo spoke again. Already, her eyes seemed moist, and it looked like she was holding back tears.
“That you have a younger sibling. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“…”
“It’s because you were worried about me. Worried that I might be anxious.”
“Who told you that?”
“I overheard the housekeeper’s phone call. Mom is pregnant.”
“…”
“So, I didn’t say anything either. Worried about you. But seeing what Mom did today, I should have just said it. My heart feels so much lighter now. I made a mistake. Not being able to say it. And I really have something I want to say.”
“…”

“I’m not worried. I don’t have any uneasy feelings. Mom and Dad… They’re too good to me. There’s no need to worry. I know how much you both love me, the most in the world.”
Yeonwoo smiled confidently.
Instead of Yeonwoo, who didn’t shed tears, Wooyeon shed a single tear.
Without any hesitation, Wooyeon opened her arms wide toward Yeonwoo.
“Come here.”
This is a phrase often used by Taekyung.
Now, I understand.
When he wants to say that he loves, he uses this awkward phrase instead of those embarrassing words.
Wooyeon tightly embraced Yeonwoo.
Just like Taekyung always did.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
