The unique smell of hospital disinfectant permeates the air. Taekyung has been observing Kim Ha-yoon, who is hospitalized, for two hours now, accompanied by a department head.
According to the assigned nurse, Kim Ha-yoon sleeps for almost half a day or often talks nonsense due to the medication.
“What’s that?”
In response to Taekyung’s question, the nurse turned her head in that direction.
“Oh, that? Are you asking about the doodles? Sometimes she draws pictures like that. Once she starts, she does it for hours. Thanks to her, we’ve repainted this room several times already.”
“What kind of doodles are they? Can I see them up close?”
“Entering is only possible with the director’s approval. I’ll check and let you know.”
“No, can’t you check right away?”
“What?”
The nurse looked embarrassed and couldn’t meet Taekyung’s eyes properly.

“Why not?”
Under Taekyung’s subtly intimidating gaze, the nurse bit her lower lip deeply.
The director had entrusted her with this several times. Be kind, grant requests, but if he demands something, always get his permission.
“Director…”
At that moment, Taekyung stared fixedly at the nurse’s name tag. Im Su-jin. He pronounced her name with a peculiar nuance.
“Ms. Su-jin.”
“……. ”
“Let’s do it this way. Ms. Su-jin, go inside and take a picture with my phone. Make it close enough for me to see.”
Eventually, the nurse nodded her head.
While she went inside to take the picture, Taekyung exchanged glances with the department head.

After a while, the nurse who had taken the photo came out and handed him the phone. With a grateful nod, Taekyung left the hospital.
“Do you recognize her?”
As they got into the car, the department head threw a question. When viewed from a distance, the drawing that Kim Ha-yoon had made looked almost like graffiti, as the nurse had mentioned.
Taekyung clearly found the part in the photo that caught his eye and enlarged it.
The drawing, messy with hard-to-identify lines and coloring like a child’s drawing, still clearly conveyed what she was saying.
“Mr. Department Head.”
“Yes, Chairman.”
“I think we should move Ms. Kim Ha-yoon to another hospital.”
“What?”
“I understand it’s difficult. Let’s try using that nurse.”

While saying that, he showed the department head the part of the photo he had read.
‘Rjsownj’
Although the alphabet graffiti was separated in different spaces, it was a clear signal.
‘Take it out.’
It was thought that she had sent an S.O.S signal at some point when she regained consciousness.
Although Minister Shin informed me of Kim Ha-yoon’s location with a detected vulnerability, it did not mean that everything was perfectly in control.
He couldn’t afford to change his mind and collaborate with Chairman Jo again to hide Kim Ha-yoon somewhere else.
Before anything else, she needs to be taken out of here as soon as possible.
Taekyung busily ran multiple simulations in his mind. Among them, he selected the fastest and most accurate method.
There was no time. He had to move as quickly as possible.
Since then, he continued to manage his schedule. Sitting in the center of the meeting room, Taekyung called in department heads and above from each business unit for a meeting, lasting for three hours, four hours, relentlessly.

Despite the constant meetings without a break, employees complained about fatigue, but Taekyung’s face showed no sign of weariness.
“We’ll stop here for today. Please submit a report on the review of the directionality by 10 a.m. tomorrow.”
After the long meeting, Taekyung was the first to leave the conference room. Two junior executives called after him as he left.
“What’s going on with Chairman Cha these days? Why is he pushing us so hard? Let’s take a breather, please.”
Without a word, the department head lowered her head and quickly followed Taekyung.
By the time Taekyung returned home, it was well past 9 p.m.
He thought about having a drink, but he was determined not to drink today. The passing car lights beyond the window looked like someone’s eyes.
He took off his jacket, repeatedly rubbing his stiff eyes.
A while ago, a department head who had escorted him from the car to the elevator hesitated for a moment before blurting out.
‘Do you have a moment?’

‘Chairman.’
‘I’m listening, so speak.’
‘There’s a rumor going around the company that you’re a real crazy guy.’
Taekyung chuckled wryly at the remark, rubbing his stiffened neck from the long meeting.
It seemed that there was a rumor circulating around the company while he had been relentlessly exposing the rotten parts of the company.
The warning from the department head to take it easy was more like a suggestion not to bring personal issues, especially those related to romance, into work.
He felt dizzy.
He had tried his best to erase Yoon Woo-yeon’s name and had been living as the original Cha Taekyung, but he had a premonition that he wouldn’t last even a week.
As soon as he entered his house, Taekyung picked up the cellphone thrown on the small table.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
