Three carriages were lined up in front of the main gate of the ducal mansion. Delina came outside to see the children off. The children, who had followed her out, paused briefly and exchanged glances with one another.

“?”

Delina turned to look at the three people behind her who were whispering something. Then Bansent stepped forward.

“What’s going on? Why is everyone acting like this?”

“We’ve decided the order for our goodbyes.”

“Order for goodbyes? Weren’t we all supposed to say goodbye together? Why set an order?”

Delina had assumed they’d all exchange farewells together, so she blinked in surprise at the mention of an “order.” Without replying, Bansent simply handed her the box he’d been holding.

“Open it.”

When Delina opened the box at his words, two guns lay inside. Her mouth fell open.

“What’s this?”

“These are further improved guns. One fires bullets, the other shoots flames—both designed to minimize recoil. I also made them lighter.”

“Really?”

Intrigued, Delina picked up a gun. It was indeed smaller and lighter than the previous model.

“I’ve already told your sister, so if your gun ever needs repairs, go to the viscount’s estate. They’ll fix it well for you. They were incredibly interested in its mechanism—maybe they’ll even modify it more than I would.”

“So what about you? Are you really not coming back at all until you become an academy professor?”
