“A cookie that my brother and I made together.”
“…You made it?”
Upon hearing that Chris made it, the faces of Tylia and Joel darkened. Chris, with an innocent face, took out a cookie from his pocket.
“Yeah. My brother told me to give it to you next time, but I wanted to give it to you, so I secretly brought it. Wasn’t it a good idea?”
Tylia and Joel sent a glance to Owen, who was standing behind Chris. When Owen slowly shook his head, Joel took a quick step back.
“Gap, do you suddenly have a new invention idea? I think I need to quickly jot it down. I’ll eat it later.”
Following that, Tylia smiled calmly.
“Sure, let’s not eat it just between us. Let’s eat it together next time. Since we have party food today, let’s enjoy that.”
“Um, is that better after all?”
At that, Chris carefully put the cookie into his pocket. Seeing this, Joel patted his chest from behind, and Tylia, after looking around, quickly changed the subject.
“But what about the other kids?”
Joel and Chris turned their heads to look around. Theo and Elisa were not far away.
Elisa sat in the middle of the playroom with a chubby face, and Theo sat nearby, fiddling with something.
“It’s still boring. Such a childish place.”
Elisa, who had been watching the children play with a bored look, said a word. Then Theo approached Elisa with a smile.
“Princess! Would you like to see this?”
Theo showed a card he held in his hand.
“Here, look. When you do this with this card… Ta-da!”
Soon the card disappeared from Theo’s hand, and flower petals fluttered. Theo laughed and asked, “How is it? Fun, right?”
“There’s a card on your wrist.”
“Oh? Really?”
Perplexed, Theo hurriedly tidied up the card dangling from his wrist. Then he picked up a toy knife.
“What about this? It’s for target throwing!”
Theo threw the toy knife, but it barely hit the edge and fell. However, Theo hurriedly explained, “Th-that… I can hit the bullseye with more practice. It’s not supposed to work on the first try.”
“Really? It seems like it could work on the first try.”
Responding to Elisa’s reply, Elisa threw the toy knife. Then, it precisely stuck in the bullseye.
“…”
Watching him in despair, Theo’s shoulders slumped. Then, Elisa, who was looking at Theo with a triumphant expression, mumbled.
“Well… it’s less childish this way.”
“Really? Was it fun?”
Regaining energy at Elisa’s words, Theo said, “I’ll practice more and show you, Princess! And I’ll perform a magnificent show like the legendary clown!”
“Legendary clown?”
“Yes. The legendary clown! I also want to become like that someday!”
At Theo’s exclamation, the playroom fell silent for a moment.
As Theo and Elisa looked around, they could see the eyes of other children focused on them.
Some of them were giggling. When Theo asked the kids, “What? Why are you laughing?”
“No, it’s because it’s funny.”
That’s what one of the kids replied.
“Believing in stories like the legendary clown. Do you believe in those stories?”
“That’s right. Those are fake stories that parents tell us.”
“Where in the world is there a legendary clown?”
Other kids added, laughing raucously. Then Theo raised his voice.
“No! The legendary clown really exists! Our dad said so!”
“Do you still believe in dad’s stories? Are you really a fool?”
Upon hearing the children’s words, tears welled up in Theo’s eyes. At that moment, something swiftly flew towards Theo from the child who called him a fool.
“Ouch!”
Then, a stamp fell to the ground with a thud. Where the stamp flew, Tylia stood, smiling.
“Oh, sorry. My mistake.”
“You, you…!”
Seemingly upset that he got hit, the child approached Tylia bravely. Then, Joel, who was nearby, shouted.
“Alright! Let’s go! It’s time to showcase my new invention!”
“But still, fighting is not…”
“It’s okay! Chris, you just hold onto your cookie! Then you’ll win everything!”
“Huh?”
“Now, attack!”
With Joel’s shout, the children in the playroom started a sudden large-scale brawl.
An unexpected massive fight broke out in the palace playroom. Seeing this, the servants and knights made efforts to stop the children.
“Hey, kids!”
The door opened, and Delina and her companions appeared. They looked at the chaotic scene in the playroom with astonished eyes afterward.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
