At those words, Hades paused briefly before speaking as if it were of no consequence.

“…If she’s come down with the plague, she should go see a physician—why on earth would she submit a petition to the palace?”

Luhan shook his head at Hades’s crude choice of words and pulled out a scroll from his robes.

“It’s a copy of that petition. Amira Shadi—she seems to be the mastermind behind it.”

The petition contained a scathing accusation against Latifa, expressing utter disbelief that a slave from a defeated nation dared enjoy and receive blessings for the desert people’s sacred traditions.

Holding the petition and glancing over it sideways, Hades spat out a single, vicious remark.

“That reckless wench. She still hasn’t come to her senses.”

“Then she probably appeared in your dream asking you to hold a soul-binding ceremony for her. Listen, Hades—you’ve only just gotten Latifa back. Drawing too much attention won’t do her any good.”

Luhan’s dark brown eyes gleamed as he offered sensible advice.

But Hades, perhaps finding Luhan’s well-meaning gaze slightly irritating, replied with a touch of sharpness.

“Latifa is unquestionably Frau of Caleb. She has every right to be treated accordingly. And such trivial matters are none of your concern, Prince.”

“You’re her master, so you must protect her properly. Just because she’s your Frau doesn’t mean she’s an object you can do with as you please.”

Hades picked up a golden goblet at Luhan’s words and gently swirled it, as if lost in thought.

Inside, the fragrant amber liquid shimmered perilously, nearly spilling over the thin line of gold leaf adorning the rim.

Hades spoke in a slightly lowered voice.
