Latifa walked over to Manut’s camel and, stroking its reins, made her request.

“I’ve been given full authority to handle all matters whenever Hades is away from home. So it wouldn’t do for me to leave Caleb unattended, would it?”

“You must not realize just how vicious Shadi’s youngest daughter truly is—I suggest you reconsider, Latifa!”

Irgos tried to persuade her, flustered, but Manut quickly pulled Latifa’s hand and lifted her onto the camel before replying.

“Alright. Master Riyad is there too, so you’ll be fine, Latifa. I’ll take you—to Caleb.”

Manut looked as if he were genuinely pleased by her decisive choice.

Lu Kwan’s expression had brightened considerably, yet he still couldn’t entirely hide his worry as he asked her,

“Are you truly certain, my lady, that it’s safe not to take refuge in the royal palace?”

“If I don’t go, Amira will hound all of you. And she’s still holding a grudge over the cane incident.”

“Damn it. You’re right. This is trouble.”

“I won’t let that happen. Protecting Caleb’s people is my duty and responsibility, entrusted to me by Hades.”

Having said that, Latifa gave Irgos a slight bow, offering the customary desert greeting.

“Please convey my wish that the desert guardian deities bestow their blessing upon Prince Luhan for his thoughtful concern.”

Since the blessing of the goddess Prince Luhan so deeply desired still belonged to Caleb, such a gesture of courtesy was more than sufficient.
