Though the heat of the day passed fully through her fingertips pressed against the wall, Latifa couldn’t shake a strange, chilling unease.

“I said we’ll use separate bedrooms from now on. Yanan has already prepared everything. Starting today, you’ll use the west wing.”

“W-wait. Why… why are you doing this?”

Ever since the day she arrived from the desert, Latifa had shared a bedroom with Hades.

At first, she’d slept only at his feet beneath the raised platform where he lay, but gradually their distance had naturally closed—now Hades would come down beside her and sleep close by.

“We only shared a room because your health was poor, and I needed to keep watch. Now that you’ve recovered, it’s best we sleep separately.”

Her mouth went dry at the self-mocking thought that flickered through her mind.

She’d always known a day like this might come, yet she never expected Hades to cast her aside so abruptly. Speechless, she stood silently before him.

His expressionless face, arms crossed as he stood there, oddly resembled the fearsome look he’d worn when he first brought her to his barracks.

“The west wing is better suited for women anyway. It’s larger, closer to the women’s hammam, and the garden is more beautifully arranged.”

“…Is that really the only reason?”

When Latifa stared straight at Hades and asked, she saw the corner of his eye twitch.
