Upon his dark, large hand, Latifa Glaesia placed her soft, white one, and soon after, the man’s firm grip tightly held her hand.

“Ah, ahhh! There’s no step here?!”

With no steps and hanging in the air, her unstable movements made Rookwan hastily lift her onto the camel.

“You’re really highmaintenance!”

Hades pulled her up, Rookwan pushed her waist a few times, and only then could Latifa Glaesia comfortably sit on the camel.

As she had when crossing the desert, Latifa Glaesia nestled in Hades’s embrace, holding her fox, and finally let out a sigh of relief.

“Huff.”

Hades sniffed the nape of her neck, which touched just below his chest, lifted his head, and said to Yanan,

“Reduce the ratio of the lily scent a bit. And you.”

His voice suddenly grew colder as he pointed at Rookwan.

“Who said you could touch my Frau? Know your place next time.”

“Is, is there a problem?”

Rookwan replied obediently, looking disgruntled.

“Rookwan was just trying to help me.”

“Ignore it!”

Ignoring Latifa Glaesia’s words, Hades pulled the camel’s reins.

“Safe travels, Lord Hades.”

The cypresses at the gate saluted him.

Only when Hades, riding his camel, had become a tiny dot in the distance did the servants sigh in relief, and Rookwan grumbled.

“Sister, what did I do wrong……?”

Yanan softly comforted him with a smile.

“First, you touched the body of a Goddess. Second, you held the happiness of Lord Hades without asking. How could you not be scolded?”

“My God. Is she really Amor? Guys, is this even real?”

Rookwan asked the young maidens behind Yanan, and they all began to giggle.
“If the youngest heir of the Shadi Trading Company finds out, the spice market will be in turmoil again.”

“Right now, praying for a successful trial is the priority.”

Yanan said worriedly as he dispersed the children.

Thump, thump.

Latifa Glaesia tried her best to ignore the sound of Hades Caleb Ignite’s heartbeat coming from behind her as she looked forward.

Unlike the empire where horses were commonly ridden, camels were often used in the desert.

A broad camel hump with a single tapestry, a handle, and reins served as the means of transportation for desert people.

“How should the trial be handled?”

Breaking the sound of the wind, Latifa Glaesia was the first to speak.

“Shh. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.”

“But I heard that I have to defend myself without a lawyer. What if Prince Tarek of the harem is seriously injured?”

“It’s an exaggeration.”

Hades Caleb Ignite replied dismissively.

“Caesar promised not to harm anyone, but the prince provoked first and got clawed in the excitement. What if he’s seriously injured?”

Latifa Glaesia spoke with genuine concern.

“Although the claw dug a bit deep into his shoulder, he is naturally robust. I’m sure his mother Iota told him to overplay it. Never worry about his health. Desert men are not frail like the people of the empire.”

“Sir General Hades… I’m sorry.”

Latifa Glaesia offered her apology in a soft voice, suddenly feeling disheartened.

“For what?”

“Because of me, everything got complicated. I didn’t mean to, but I’ve made things difficult for you.”

“Heh.”

Hades let out a snort as if to dismiss Latifa’s apology.

“Even if it’s the Grand Bazaar, it won’t be much different from the empire. Regardless of the severity of the wound, harming a royal carries a heavy penalty.”

“That won’t do.”

Hades took a deep sigh and lowered his posture a little, whispering into Latifa’s ear.

“Once you became my ‘Frau’ and stepped into this place, you can’t have such a weak attitude. You’re not at fault.”

[Dash]Chomp.

Suddenly, Hades bit Latifa’s earlobe.

Although there was a stinging pain, her spirits oddly lifted.

“Ouch! That hurts!”

“Did you cut Prince Tarek’s shoulder with a knife? Or did you shoot him with an arrow? Or perhaps, did you command a lion to attack him?”

“No, of course not!”

“Exactly. You’ve done no wrong. Remember that and walk into the royal palace with your head held high. I’ll be behind you.”

“But what if Iota, the concubine, has set the stage? Not many would believe I didn’t harm him.”

Such are the machinations of power.

“Walk straight, back straight. If anyone dares to blame you…”

Hades paused, seeming to ponder.

“Then what?”

Latifa asked, and he answered in a seemingly earnest tone.

“Should I cut them or stab them? Or perhaps toss them whole into the river?”

His absurdity even in a serious situation made Latifa burst into a chuckle.

“Hahaha. You’re really something. You do whatever you want.”

“Not necessarily.”

As Hades readjusted the reins of the camel, the gold bracelets on his wrist jingled.

“Anyway, I am your master, and it’s my duty to protect my assets. I’ll fulfill my role as a master to you.”

Excluding their contractual relationship, what Hades said would have been quite heartwarming.

It was akin to the oath of a knight protecting his lady.
“But we’re far from anything romantic. We are… we are nothing.”

The fleeting memory of their last kiss crossed Latifa’s mind, but she forcefully ignored it as she spoke.

“Alright. Then I must fulfill my duty as a Frau. Though I’m not quite sure what that entails.”

“Ending this wretched trial as quickly as possible. That’s what I want right now. But everything will work out. I have your back—”

“Yes. I’ll be fine since you’re watching over me.”

Latifa’s words, slightly more confident than before, accompanied the camel as it lightly leaped over an obstacle and rounded a corner.

—Thud!

At the same moment, she felt her body lift. Then she sensed strong, muscular arms tightly hugging her lower abdomen.

A small, flamelike sensation seemed to ignite deep within her core.

“Latifa, look. That’s the royal palace of the Grand Bazaar.”

Male lead is a Divorced Husband

She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.

After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.

She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.

But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…

Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!

――

This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!

The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.

That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”

Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”

The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”

That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”

Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”

The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.

Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.

“She was originally a ‘she’!”

At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.

The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”
