She couldn’t believe she was in such a neatly organized tent when just yesterday she was roaming around with a band of refugees barely surviving by the campfire. Latifa pinched her own cheek.

“Ouch… it’s not a dream.”

Pushing aside the silk blanket that was imbued with the exotic taste of the desert dweller, she breathed a small sigh of relief when she confirmed that the man from last night was gone.

‘He really didn’t do anything to me. Who is that man, really?’

Carelessly stepping out of bed, she felt a great pain in her ankle and had to sit down again.

“Ugh! My leg…!”

At that moment, two desert dwellers approached from outside the tent.

“When should we give the move order?”

“Prepare to leave at noon.”

The ones who entered the tent, lifting the tent’s curtain, were Hades and his righthand man, Manut.

Hades, who had entered the tent, glanced at Latifa, who was sitting awkwardly, and nonchalantly walked past her, speaking to Manut.

“We’ll be short on supplies, but we need to make it to the Sorut exchange area as frugally as possible. After rejoining the main force, we’ll replenish supplies. Selling their goods was a condition, after all.”

“Understood, General.”

“General?!”

Startled at his identity, Latifa involuntarily closed her mouth at her own exclamation. Then, the eyes of Hades and Manut turned to Latifa.

There was only one person that came to mind when she heard the title ‘general.’

The supreme general of the Kingdom of Grand Bazaar, who had played the biggest role in overthrowing the empire by driving the imperial forces to a corner, Hades Caleb.

The mastermind was right in front of her.

“An empire dweller who really knows desert language.”

“Do I have nothing to do that I would lie to you?”

Hades replied with displeasure to Manut’s admiring comment.

“I thought you made up an excuse to take the woman. Should I give you a moment?”

“Don’t worry about what’s not your business. Now, you send these to the scouts.”

“Yes, General.”
Hades casually turned his head back as if nothing was wrong, and Manute received his orders silently, with due respect.

But only Latifa was filled with confusion.

A fear she had momentarily forgotten was creeping back in.

‘The real General Hades?!’

She had barely escaped from the claws of the thieves, and now she was face to face with Hades, the general who had destroyed the empire she belonged to. Her misfortune seemed endless.

‘I escaped his soldiers and ran away, and now this…!’

She felt like crying over her life filled with misfortune.

“Then, let’s finish preparations for withdrawal and depart at noon.”

Having completed his business, Manute politely greeted Hades and left the tent.

Hades slowly approached Latifa, who was sitting stunned at the realization that the man who helped her was a general.

Only then was Latifa able to closely observe his face.

The deep desertdwelling skin and dark curly hair stood out as manly features underneath his handsome countenance.

Also, his firm muscles and wellproportioned body, as well as his arms adorned with leather straps, clearly showed he was a formidable warrior.

But Hades was the man who had destroyed the empire and the Tania royal family in no time. She could hardly breathe at the thought that revealing her true identity to him would be dangerous.

‘It’s okay. Nobody knows that I am the princess. There’s no way he could suspect it.’

She tried to soothe herself continuously, but she couldn’t stop the pounding of her heart from the overwhelming pressure he gave off.

“Even though you know you’re not a thief, you’re still acting anxious. Are you the same woman who was screaming while clinging to my arm last time?”

He approached and pulled out a ripe apple from his pocket, offering it to her.

“Or are you planning to bewitch me again and run away?”

At his gaze, Latifa’s mind went blank.

“Does your empire not have a custom to express gratitude to those who save their lives?”

His burning black pupils were all focused on Latifa.

Hades seemed to be waiting just for her to open her mouth.

Afraid that he would stare at her forever if she did not speak, Latifa barely opened her dry lips and responded.

“Should we call those who destroyed our empire benefactors?”

At her words, his face slightly distorted.

“I have nothing to say to that. You got me there.”

“If you hadn’t found us, we could have quietly passed by. We wouldn’t have been scattered like this.”

She was scared, but given that the man who turned the empire into a ruin was right in front of her, she couldn’t help but speak harshly.

At Latifa’s grumbling tone, Hades let out a small snort as if he was amused.

“Ah, I have a good excuse for that. If I hadn’t saved you guys then, you would have been caught by the remaining thieves and dragged away as slaves.”

‘You turned the empire into a sea of fire!’

Latifa shot him an angry look at his words, spoken as if he wasn’t such a violent person. At her gaze, Hades’ eyebrows twisted into a malicious shape.
