“Those of you who work until nightfall will get an extra token of appreciation. Go, Irgos.”

With nothing more to add, Luhuan left the room with Irgos.

His pace, however, was not as brisk as when he had entered; it was slightly, ever so slightly slower, which even his close guard captain, Irgos, failed to notice.

[Star icon][Star icon] [Latifa.]

Latifa slowly rose to the voice she heard in the darkness.

“Ah!”

However, the pain in her shoulder was so severe that she couldn’t properly rise.

‘Ah, yes. General Hades threw a polearm at me. Does this mean I’m dead?’

Can I rest now?

As she rubbed her throbbing shoulder, she remembered getting hurt trying to protect Iota.

All the chaos in Sultan Alhyun’s reality and the horrified faces of the people.

The stunned expressions of Hades and the desperate looks of Luhuan slowly surfaced in Latifa’s mind as she heard the voice again.

[My Frau.]

In the pitchblack darkness where nothing could be seen, Latifa opened her eyes wide and stared into the void.

[Walk straight with your back straight, no matter what anyone says.] [You have nothing to worry about.]

Recognizing the owner of the voice, Latifa spoke into the darkness.

“I trusted you, and look what’s happened.”

[Burn as a roaring flame, without regret.]

“I have no regrets. If I could go back, I would protect Iota again.”

[…….]

“Are you disappointed?”

[I thought I had picked up a timid rabbit.]

“Again, I’m unsure. Can I meet your expectations?”

[Latifa.]

“If I hadn’t come to the desert, this terrible thing wouldn’t have happened.”

At that moment, she felt a gust of wind carrying the scent of jasmine fiercely tangle her long hair.
“I don’t know, General Hades. Am I really worthy of becoming a goddess?”

[If you say your worth is just that, then I have nothing more to say.]

“I’ve come this far because of you, but I really don’t know what more I can do.”

[Latifa—] [La—ti—]

The jasmine scent that had surrounded her disappeared, and the distant calls from Asrai echoed in her ears for a long time.

[Laati—fa?!]

Hades’ voice calling Latifa became increasingly distorted, eventually morphing into an awkward female voice.

[Ti—fa?!]

With a voice that awkwardly rose at the end, the floor where Latifa was standing suddenly disappeared, and she flailed her arms in midair.

Finally, a light so bright it hurt her eyes poured out, and she turned her head away.

[Laatii—fa?!]

“Agh!”

“Aggh!”

As a bird’s beak suddenly came into view, Latifa screamed and opened her eyes wide. At that moment, a crashing and screaming sound was heard next to her.

Flap, flap, with the sound of a small bird flapping its wings, Latifa was able to regain her senses and scan her surroundings.

The first thing she saw was a ceiling decorated in soothing colors of pumpkin and walnut brown, adorned with intricate patterns.

Cream and peachcolored curtains were hung over a large arched window, allowing soft sunlight to illuminate the large room.

She saw small, adorable copper teapots and lamps with rose and bird designs, emphasizing cuteness over elegance.

Next to that, on a golden tray, there were strongsmelling herbs, and oddly enough, interspersed were nuts covered in white sugar and small animalshaped candies.

“La—ti—fa! You’re awake!”

Then a small black bird with a white tail flew in front of her vision, calling out to Latifa in a strange voice.

‘Is the bird really talking? Or am I using some ability? Where am I?!’

“Hey, don’t scream suddenly; you’ll scare me!”

With a “jump” sound, something hopped up next to the head of the bed where Latifa lay.

‘A girl?’

The one who had hopped up was a desert girl, who looked mischievous with her black hair tinged with brown.

She looked quite young and was dressed in an extravagant gold and purple caftan, along with plump cheeks and chubby arms.

‘She looks like a welltoasted marshmallow.’

She showed the back of her hand to the lying Latifa.

“I’m Asti Basili, the princess of the grand bazaar.”

“……”

‘Pr, princess……?’

“Don’t ignore me! Stupid bird!”

Uncertain of how to reply, Latifa gazed blankly as the black bird perched on the girl’s shoulder and squawked in a woman’s voice.

“Be quiet, Tatkan. You’re the stupid bird. And I told you that’s uncouth language.”

‘It’s not a spirit. The bird is actually talking.’

Latifa stared at them with wide eyes, frozen like ice.

Asti Basili, as she had introduced herself, reprimanded the bird and stroked its head.

“Sorry, Asti. Sorry. Hehehe.”

Surprisingly, the bird mimicked human laughter, hehe, but it seemed like it really understood Asti’s words.

Asti grabbed a handful of Latifa’s long silver hair and said, smiling broadly,

“Hello, Latifa. I heard you’re my new doll.”

The innocent smile on the young girl’s face seemed frightening. Was it an illusion?

When scheming men desperately battle for her favor in the male harem

This one’s also on my reread list! The rivalry, scheming between the men in the imperial harem are just as intense and thrilling as in classic palace drama novels, where concubines fight to the death. Give it a read, girls! I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Synopsis:

“I am not worthy of her… but I still want to be by her side, even if only as a loyal dog…”

Those were the painful whispers of Yue Guanyi – the proud Crown Prince of the Great Qi, who was torn between deep love and a guilty conscience. Despite holding the supreme power of the Imperial Guard, he still could not forget the dark past when he was sold into a brothel.

Fate played a cruel twist when Qiu Shuzhi – a young female official who had just passed the imperial examinations with top honors – stepped into his life. She did not know that she was the one who had saved him from a tragic fate many years ago. And now, her heart was the target of pursuit for both Yue Guanyi and the powerful Empress Dowager Qin Qing.

While Yue Guanyi only dared to silently care for and protect the one he loved from afar, the  Empress Dowager Qin Qing openly expressed his feelings and did not hesitate to take advantage of his power to approach Qiu Shuzhi. The covert struggle between the two most powerful forces in the imperial court began…
