When Davian flared up, Ivenel looked even more confused by her reaction.

“Isn’t it ridiculous that you’re saying this now? Compared to what you’ve done to me, this is nothing.”

Thinking back on everything Davian had done so far, this was merely a drop in the ocean.

“Then again, you’re no different from Duke Hallan.”

Ivenel felt not just relieved but thoroughly satisfied. Yet it would be a grave mistake to think this was the end.

“The next one dragged away will be you. Because I haven’t even started yet.”

“Now that you’ve got people backing you, you’ve become completely blind, haven’t you?”

“Yes. And those people are far beyond even comparing to Duke Hallan. But don’t think you’re like them. The reason I respect and follow them isn’t because of their power, but because of their convictions. Someone like you would never understand that, even if you lived your whole life trying.”

Seeing the look in Ivenel’s eyes as she gazed down at her, Davian lost all composure and grabbed Ivenel roughly by the collar. Of course, Ivenel wasn’t someone who’d be easily pulled along by that strength.

She immediately seized Davian’s wrist, stopping her action right then and there.

“You really think you can take me on right now?”

But Davian didn’t back down—instead, she gripped Ivenel with both hands and shouted furiously.

“It’s all because of you! You ruined everything! You stole my place! If it weren’t for you, everything would’ve been mine from the start!”

“Remember this clearly this time: all of this is your own doing.”
