“I’m so happy I get to sleep with you, sister.”

“I’m actually the one who should be sorry. You have to sleep uncomfortably because of me.”

Ivenel said this to Shane with an apologetic expression as Shane placed a pillow on the bed for her share.

Shane’s room was even smaller than servants’ quarters compared to the imperial palace, but it posed no real issue for Ivenel.

In fact, it reminded her of the room she’d stayed in as Arang, and she felt more at ease with this cozy space than with something overly spacious.

“I could just sleep on the sofa in the living room.”

“That’s out of the question. You’re clearly a patient, after all.”

Shane insisted so firmly that Ivenel couldn’t refuse any longer and lay down on the bed beside her.

The bed itself was less than half the size of the one she’d used in the imperial palace and much firmer, yet it wasn’t uncomfortable enough to disturb her sleep.

Shane, seemingly not yet sleepy, turned toward Ivenel, her eyes sparkling brightly as she gazed at her.

“To be honest, I’ve always thought it’d be nice to have a sister like you. My brother is so gruff and utterly lacking in delicacy.”

Recalling Chen’s blunt manner of speaking, Ivenel immediately understood what she meant—but strangely, that very roughness felt tender to her.

“Maybe that’s precisely because he cares for you and worries about you so much?”

“I know that, but I’m actually more worried about him. He does such dangerous work.”

After all, why wouldn’t Shane worry about Chen? Ivenel could sense that desperate longing—every time he left home to hunt monsters, all she hoped for was his safe return.
