Ivenel was so shocked at the sight of a person collapsed in a pool of blood that she couldn’t even utter a sound for a moment.

After freezing for a few seconds, she hurried toward the fallen woman.

“Hey, over here.”

When the woman showed no response even to her call, Ivenel placed her fingers under the woman’s nose—only to find she had already stopped breathing.

‘Was I too late?’

Just then, Ivenel noticed the wound soaking the woman’s clothes. The mark on her left leg, seemingly caused by something grazing past, and the fatal wound near her heart looked extremely familiar to her.

“It’s a gunshot wound…”

Ivenel was certain just by looking that it was caused by a gun—and clearly fired by someone who intended to kill.

Slowly rising to her feet, she drew her own gun and calmly scanned the interior of the shop, her gaze now steady unlike before.

She spotted several bullet holes embedded in the walls and broken furniture, apparently missed shots. There was no sign of anyone—the culprit must have already fled.

“The food’s been overturned.”

Passing by the table with spilled dishes, she moved deeper inside and found a bloodstained bullet on the floor—likely the one that had pierced through the dead woman.

Bending down to pick it up, she was startled to see the bullet’s distinctive bluish tint shining through the blood.

“This is definitely…”

“What’s going on? Why’s it so quiet—Aaah!”
