Evenel couldn’t bring herself to pick up the gun and stand in front of the target. She resented her past self for naively accepting it without knowing better.

It was fortunate that she hadn’t boasted to anyone else about it.

Just then, the knights entered the shooting range with Davian. She hastily holstered her gun and whispered urgently to Demil.

“Sir Demil, it’s a secret that I have this.”

“Understood.”

Demil nodded without further questions, seemingly grasping her intent.

“Have you already been training?”

“No, not yet. I was just about to start.”

“Would you mind if I watch your training?”

At Davian’s cautiously put forth question, Evenel readily nodded. The more time they spent together, the quicker she would get close to the knights.

“I’ll bring you a spare gun.”

“Thank you.”

She pushed the matter of the gifted gun to the back of her mind and tried to focus on the training. However, her mind was so filled with other thoughts that she couldn’t perform at her usual level.

“What’s going on? You’re performing at less than half your usual skill.”

“Sir Shan, you seem subtly pleased.”

“Is it because you’ve never been able to beat Evenel before?”

As she trained alongside the knights, she could momentarily forget about Shuher’s gun. Just then, Davian, who had been watching from a distance, quietly approached.

“No, you were truly amazing.”

Indeed, the gun-toting Evenel emanated a completely different atmosphere compared to when she was engaging in a tender conversation. He suddenly understood why she had stood so confidently in front of men who were pursuing her.

“Aren’t you bored just watching? The gunfire must be quite loud.”

“It’s okay.”

Contrary to Davian’s response, Evenel noticed that she looked a bit strained. It was understandable, as the sensation of the noise reverberating in one’s head could be hard to bear if you were not used to gunfire.

“Do you want to go with me? I can escort you back to the palace.”

Evenel decided to leave early as she couldn’t focus on her training. She had other issues to address.

Just then, Shan burst out laughing.

“Are you going to get lost again?”
“It doesn’t seem like something someone who initially got lost and ended up here should say.”

“I’ve memorized the palace’s geography now. Just tell me where to go and I’ll find it.”

Knowing that Evenel was jesting out of genuine comfort rather than mocking herself, she also burst into laughter.

“By that logic, isn’t it inappropriate for someone who was thoroughly defeated by me during our first meeting to say such things?”

“How long do you plan on harping on that incident?”

“I clearly remember your face when you realized you were beaten. It was really funny.”

Davian abruptly grabbed Evenel’s arm with a sudden urgency while he observed them exchanging stories unfamiliar to him.

“Let’s go.”

After nodding her head, Evenel checked the palace’s location with Demil and left the archery training field with Davian.

As Evenel walked with Davian, they naturally continued their conversation.

“The palace is really spacious.”

“I agree. Excessively so, even. But you’ll get used to it quickly. I’ve also memorized most of the routes.”

“I’m really glad I met you, Evenel.”

If the person he had bumped into hadn’t been her, Davian would have probably been caught by the men. Then his life would have continued to be as miserable as before.

“I was abandoned by my parents as a child and lived in an orphanage. After leaving there, I worked various jobs until I started working and living in a restaurant.”

Her voice, initially impassive, began to tremble. She had never spent a single day in peace. From her time in the orphanage, she had suffered verbal and physical abuse, and things hadn’t changed much since she left.

“That must have been really hard.”

Evenel couldn’t bring herself to offer any empty words of comfort. Just those few words made her realize how difficult her life had been.

“Then, as you’ve heard, when I asked for my overdue wages, the restaurant owner tried to secretly sell me.”

“What a shameless person.”

How could someone wear a human mask and commit such horrendous acts?

“Still, thanks to meeting His Majesty and you, Evenel, I am incomparably happier now than before. Come to think of it, I haven’t even thanked His Majesty for saving my life.”

“If His Majesty hadn’t appeared, it would have been a really dangerous situation.”

“Defeating that terrifying monster in one shot, His Majesty seems truly incredible.”

Evenel had no choice but to nod in agreement. She had witnessed Shuher’s power up close many times.
“And you seem very kind.”

At Davian’s shy remark, she abruptly halted in her steps. When Davian, also stopping, gave her a questioning look, Evenel couldn’t help but ask.

What exactly about that person is supposed to be kind?

Ex-husband Wants Reconciliation

One-line summary: Chasing the wife to the crematorium (making an effort to attract someone who has become indifferent), the female lead doesn’t look back, the second male lead takes the position.

Intro:

To repay the kindness of the older generation, Su Mu crossed into a female-dominated world and became a live-in daughter-in-law of the Yan family, single-handedly saving the Yan family from fire and water.

But her husband, Yan Jiyue, the eldest son of the Yan family, treated her with sarcasm and never showed her a good face.

It wasn’t until after Su Mu’s death that this pampered and arrogant young master shed a few fake tears and pretended to want to die for love.

This life’s kindness was enough. If there was a next life, she would definitely kick Yan Jiyue away.

Who knew that the heavens would be so kind as to allow her to be reborn, returning to the time when she had just married into the Yan family.

Su Mu glanced at the Yan eldest son, who still spoke coldly to her, and threw a divorce letter in front of him.

“Let’s divorce!”

***

Yan Jiyue never imagined that he would be reborn. He happily went to find Su Mu, wanting to make up for the mistakes he had made in his ignorant youth.

Wasn’t the reason the heavens allowed him to be reborn to let him reconcile with Su Mu?

But when he pushed open the door to Su Mu’s room, the person lying on the bed was another man.

Su Mu’s personal attendant, Xie Yi.

Yan Jiyue hated him so much that his teeth itched. In front of Su Mu, Xie Yi was a gentle and considerate whisperer of sweet nothings, but in reality, he was vicious-hearted and deliberately sabotaged their husband and wife relationship.

In the previous life, it was he who secretly hid in Su Mu’s coffin and committed suicide, stealing a step ahead of him to be buried with Su Mu.

Yan Jiyue’s eyes were filled with hatred as he cursed, “What kind of thing are you? Your background is lowly, what right do you have to occupy Su Mu?”

Xie Yi looked at the sleeping Su Mu and no longer pretended to be a whisperer of sweet nothings.

He proudly stuck out his belly, “I have the right because my belly is capable of giving the Wife-master a daughter.”

***

Yan Jiyue was consumed with jealousy. He spread rumors that Xie Yi had once been branded with the mark of a “harlot” on his chest.

But on the night Xie Yi cut off the flesh bearing that mark, Su Mu suddenly realized something was amiss.

“How did you know the exact moment I was poisoned? And why did you show up a month early?”

Xie Yi remained silent, blood from his wound soaking through his robes. His sapphire eyes brimmed with anguish – or was it just a flawless act?

Between a once-arrogant husband now seeking redemption, and a gentle soul willing to die for her – who truly held the darkest secrets? And could it be that Su Mu and Yan Jiyue weren’t the only ones given a second chance at life…?
