Evenel looked around slowly.

The stadium, surrounded by a tiered set of spectator seats, was filled with people. Their attire uniformly evoked the image of knights, resembling burlap.

As if they had been waiting for her appearance, voices of cheer or jeer, indiscernible, were heard from everywhere, breaking the silence that reigned moments before.

Evenel maintained her composure even in a situation that seemed deafening. Soon, her gaze was fixed on a man sitting at the highest spot in the front.

He was looking down at her, lounging with his legs crossed and his chin resting on the armrest.

His dark purple hair, black eyes, and the unbuttoned top of his garment that seemed unconcerned with the chilly air all went well together.

His flashy attire was luxurious but somehow gave off a roguish vibe.

In a word, he was an indescribable man, but if arrogance was to be personified, it would be that appearance. Yet even that exuded an aura that made one readily concede.

Despite the distance, she could feel his eyes scanning her up and down, and Evenel’s brows slightly crinkled.

‘It feels like a snake is crawling all over my body.’

The man slowly raised his right hand, and as if to display the power he possessed, that simple motion silenced the crowd in an instant.

The moment Evenel locked eyes with the man’s sharp black eyes, a languid voice touched her ear.

“Everyone here was looking forward to seeing the face of Lady Evenel cry or flounder, but it’s quite a disappointment that you’ve defied those expectations.”

“Is that so?”

Unmoved by the provocation, her indifferent response momentarily dimmed the man’s eyes. Then, a nobleman standing next to him raised his voice.

“Lady Evenel Istella, show respect to His Imperial Majesty.”

‘That person is the emperor.’

It was Shuher Be Lersha Karies, the male protagonist of this story and the emperor of the Karies Empire. He had thoroughly subjugated Aodin right after ascending the throne.

His coexistence of grace and cruelty made it easy to accept that he was the protagonist. His entire being spoke of imperial might that would make anyone bow.

‘I don’t know how to show respect.’

While she merely stood tall, some might think she was flaunting pointless pride, but from Evenel’s perspective, it was a slightly misunderstood grievance.

Judging by the atmosphere, this wasn’t a simple introduction.

‘But why should I?’

Her fate was already decided. She had nothing left to lose.

So, her words just wouldn’t come out kindly to a person who couldn’t even show the minimum courtesy on first meeting.

“If you wish to receive a greeting from me, I think you should first explain why you summoned me here upon my arrival at the imperial palace. At least that’s what I know as courtesy.”

The spectators’ eyes turned ferocious at her words, but Evenel’s gaze at Shuher remained utterly composed.

As if he couldn’t leave a scratch on her, no matter what he said.

The only sound piercing the silence was Shuher’s hearty laughter. But there was no joy or pleasure in that laughter.

The cold smile that contrasted with his frigid eyes stopped, and he slowly opened his mouth.

“I’ve always thought of you as a vile and cowardly race, but how can you brazenly ask for help? Thoughtlessly throwing words around and sending your royal family so easily. Is the emperor of Aodin stupid, or naive? Ah, is that the same for your family?”

When the conversation turned to the Istella Duchy, Evenel listened more carefully.

“You were with the emperor, making unreasonable demands, but now your power is gone, and you’ve been reduced to a chasing dog.”

“Speaking on behalf of the Emperor and making unreasonable demands. Now the power is gone, and you’ve become like a dog chasing chickens.”
The words he spat out were thick with contempt for Aodin, and that emotion was transmitted to the very bones of Evenel, a person of Aodin.

As if his very breath could slice the skin off.

‘Is this also according to the flow of the novel?’

She only briefly heard the contents from her younger brother, so she didn’t know the conversation between the extra and the Emperor. What the original Evenel’s reaction was like either.

But looking at the atmosphere, it seemed that the death would proceed according to the content of the novel.

“Why did you ask me to bring you here? Cutting your throat right away is no longer fun. So, I prepared a new entertainment, something everyone can enjoy.”

Finally, as if signaling the start, Shuher briskly snapped his fingers. Simultaneously, a rusty metallic squeaking sound was heard, and its origin was another entrance blocked by iron bars.

From inside, there came an unidentified sound, like an animal, no, a beast.

A slight chill rose on Evenel’s arm, but the people in the audience all started to cheer. The expectation for the spectacle to unfold shortly was palpable.

‘Is it starting now?’

Shuher’s black pupils were still fixed on Evenel, who maintained her calmness more than he had thought.

‘Strange.’

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
